Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

It was a disappointing loss on the weekend .. BUT it's how the team responds this Thursday night at the 8th Wonder of the World against the Raiders that matters .. !!

Raiders have Hudson Young (who provides more than the prescribed enthusiasm for one person) out due to suspension .. Xavier Savage is still out with injury .. and Corey Horsbrugh .. 'could be out' .. after his on-field brain-fart.

As much as i like having Makasini in the side .. i think we missed the runs out of trouble by Skelton .. he eases the pressure off our forwards when he takes hit up and runs the ball back with power and determination .. !!

Is it to early to experiment with Doueihi as a ball playing, running 13 .. and have madden at 7 .. and Luai at 6 .. ?? Playing Doueihi at 13 .. just like Penrith does with Yeoh at 13.
Canberra might be without prop Papalii, he didn't finish the game on the weekend, hobbled off and ice pack on knee or calf ???

Just in my opinion
Take out the obvious ref / bunker decisions !

Madden starts in that Broncos match and we win well !!

Madden is a true organising half back which certainly has come back a much better player after spending a few seasons under Adam Reynolds mentorship at the Broncos

Douiehi is a fabulous player as a ball runner, a true Tiger ,very good kicker of the ball etc but not a organising type player

Luai well 4 premierships at a club with a fantastic system .A very very good 5/8 of course !And someone who is needed to push up the standards etc

Latu is and will be a excellent player in your half’s with more experience.Currently excellent of the bench at 14 or so !

Andrew’s could be one of the best half’s in the future as seems to have all the skills

But currently Madden is the only true organising halfback at the club !Think Adam Reynolds !
Cheers
And go the Tigers !

If Madden isn't halfback then I feel our attack in the 20 won't be good enough. Doueihi and Luai have played 2 and. Half games together and have no shown a lot. If we struggle again of they are chosen then I wonder what Be ji will do.

He was left out of the Wahs team because he blew out to a 130kgs, came to us for a chance and got down to 115kgs.

I'm keen for him to get a run and prove himself but the pack is going too well for changes, his chance will arrive soon enough it's a long season and I think a lot will be surprised.
He didn't blow out in weight last year. He was playing big minutes in reserve grade all last season.

Yep .. same team and their gunna be meltdowns … Could well be the result …
I have been vocal about wanting Madden at 7 and AD moved but fully expect the same team to be named.

Benji is as stubborn as they come and his ego won't allow him to change the halves in the short term.

I do think he is trending in the right direction as a coach but he has had more than enough time to sort our best halves pairing and our 20m red zone attack which has been abysmal for years.

If he is the man manger they say he is, he needs to make the change and manage all egos involved. It was stupid to gaurentee AD the half back spot in the off season. All spot should be earnt.

I can see Benji sticking with last week’s side bar injuries or individual fatigue. I think he will want players to feel he is backing them and there is some stability. Player’s make mistakes and if you don’t support them and give them the opportunity to rectify and recover you may not be developing them properly.
Chopping and changing constantly isn’t the best thing in the long term, i think he has made his key player decisions and has to stand by them at least for a few games. Injury and other issues will see the team make up change over the course of the season anyway. The top 20 odd will all get their chances.
Maka may be a good example- If he does make a change I am sure he is becoming a good enough coach to sit down with each player and discuss a development plan and reasoning for his decision.
