Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Based on our off contract players for this year, this is what I think we should be looking to do with each player and who should/could replace them (keeping in mind Roberts, Andrews and Haywood all move to top 30 next year):

Retain:
Bula - Retain (re-sign or activate club option)
Tony Sukkar - re-sign 1-2 year deal
Jeral Skelton - re-sign 1 year deal
Tristan Hope - re-sign 1 year deal

Leaving:
Luke Laulilii (signed with Perth) - Tyrone May or depth/back up backrower
Kit Laulilii (likely to Perth) - Extend Bunty or sign a young gun like Luron Patea/Patuki-Case
Mav Geyer (likely to Perth) - Ethan Roberts

Release:
Heath Mason - Javon Andrews
Solo Saukuru - Jared Haywood
Will Craig - Upgrade Attard or Tavana

Re-signing guys like Hope, Skelton and Sukkar are important for team depth given the addition of Perth and PNG looking to sign players from Nov 1. There won't be too much coming in this year as the talent pool thins out with the new teams coming in. Hopefully Godinet and Taupau Moors will be pushing towards NRL sometime in 2027
Did you have Andrews and Haywood on the release list? I think they are worth developing.

Some interesting developments over at the Snap Dragons .. 2 days ago they sacked Shane Flanagan as Head coach .. and appoint Dean Young as the new Head coach.

Then yesterday it was stated that the Assistant coach Mick Ennis walked away as he was over looked for the Head coach role .. BUT today its reported that Dean Young showed Ennis the door .. !! hahaha Ennis you flog .. !!

Dean Young has also dropped the superstar number 7 Kyle Flanagan to the reggies .. and put young Kade Reed in at 7 .. wow fancy that .. never saw that coming .. lol 🤣🤣
Ennis is a flog.

Look he could play and he was hard done by at the dogs. But, a total flog.

I wouldn't blame Young for kicking him out. Flanagan is a white-anter and so is Ennis.
Ennis wants the head coaching job and he won't be staying at Dragqueens...

Guessing they will go Trent Barrett, which won't make much difference to their side. Dragons rebuild is going to take forever.

I don't get this.

Sukkar isn't needed with Bunty not getting game time. I am all for depth forwards but I don't see why.
Tristan Hope should be a super cheap/min value signing. Anything over min value he can go, The guy tries but seriously he is not a NRL level hooker.

Mason, Saukuru, Craig can all go unless min value.
100% we need to have min value signings. min/max the cap.

We really need a NRL level hooker to step in for Api.
Cmon were the Wests Tigers, were knowing for having more NR9's then we know what to do with.

im pretty confident we can beat canberra without Young and Papali. If they were both in inbound have had a big crack at canberra at $2.50
think we can win by 10 or so

I will have a $100 bet on dolphins to beat warriors at $2.60
dolphins are pretty decent in the backs and the forwards should go well against warriors. Schneider at 6 in a way is better than nikorima for them.

so tempted to back souths at $2.30 against storm, although in tipping comps i have taken souths, i just think melbourne might come good in this game so I can't bet against them at the moment, except when tigers play them
Honestly with how the first 7 rounds have gone.

Anyone tipping anything but the Dragons to loose is really rolling the dice.

Comp is MAD at the moment.

At 16 yrs its anyone's guess how they will progress. A better dollar offer I presume. Can't keep them all.
Plenty of time to develop someone else.
I was much more impressed with the other centre in Magpies Harold Matts this season, albeit 1 year older, in Kingston Finau - strong, powerful, elusive, great defence and skillful. Hopoate had flashes but didn't stand out like I thought he might (although he was a bottom ager).

Funny how little people seem to know about Jared Haywood

I saw that. It was for Benji's shoulder according to Benji. He wasn't quite in position yet when he got the ball in the GF.
Benji nearly always defended on the wing after his shoulder probs.
In the GF I think JT was taken out after the kick to Hodgo...Benji took that hole, Mander missed it and the main camera shot missed it too i think

A mad comp is what represents value whicj in punting terms is terrific
no value offering in betting on teams beating the Dragons.
Dolphins took pe rith to the wire last week, toufg forwards they represent value against warriors
Sp does brisbane over dogs as some have said.
very co.fortable with the multi Tigers/penrith/Roosters paying $2.40
these three look pretty tough to beat

Sack a coach win a game.
It’s a thing.
I don't see Dean Young having that "Kieran Foran" effect.

But hey, super impressed if the Dragons win as Underdogs.. Look I kinda used to hate them, now they are too pathetic to get angry at. I just don't see that happening.
