He made it pretty clear b4 the chaos he was ready to sign i reckon 900 on a long deal and it would of been done. Luai was even considering removing clauses or atleast said he was. What Benji has done since that derailment by HBG has to be applauded.

Luai never said he was considering removing the clauses. He has always said so long as the club does the right thing by his family then he isn't going anywhere. Not once has he indicated he would consider removing the clauses.
Bula has also never made any public comments about what he intends to do. Meloncamp and Richo before him both said they were confident a deal would be done but Bula has not indicated anything one way or the other.*

Katoa or Walker would be amazing options for 2028. They would play really well under Benji and go to another level. Seems the pair are almost held back to some extent in their respective clubs. Either would complement Doueihi well and are genuine halves.

Katoa at 7 would be amazing.

Yeah, just hoping Latu can finally get some consistant footy in. Imo thats what Benji will be initially going with as long as Latu can live up to it. Otherwise maybe the Polynesian infloence at the club may entice Katoa. I saw also Onitoni Large is off contract as well. Imo its Latu or Madden. Madden has lit it up this year, just need to see what Latu can do.

Woah woah woah. I hate having to reply to comments like this because it looks like I’m bagging the guy when I’m not, but it has to be said. Madden has been exceptional when called upon this year. But a few good games does not suddenly mean he’s the long term answer, let alone a marquee player. He’s 26 and played less than 50 games. At best he’s a solid journeyman. Not a player you build your club around.

Luai extending for essentially 2 years a signing elsewhere after that and the forum is in meltdown. We may lose on the weekend sure, and yes there is Bula and a club option and no announcements … yet. I think too many here have PTSD. We should be extremely happy to be where we are. 3 time wooden spooners and now equal second heading into r9. Yes PNG money and all that and we could lose more players blah blah blah. It’s not Galvin gate and it’s not the Big 4. Let’s focus on Cronulla and hope we are competitive.

Benji and his coaching group has the team “humming“ , there is great team spirit with the players enjoying playing together . We’re building a club that players will want to come to . Ok the club needs to get active re-signing players we want to keep, I reckon Benji has a lot of this covered!!

Funny, when I ask you about facts, you casually ignore it.
You have an unhealthy predisposition about the people that saved our club from dying when Balmain imploded.
Yes, they have made mistakes, but the fact is they were the only ones that saved us when Balmain irresponsibly defaulted on it's half of obligations.

That’s totally neglecting the many non-monetary reasons a player might stay. We apparently have a group who loves their team and coach.

Richo was great because he had a vision and he could sell it.

I’m not discounting it makes it more difficult, merely pointing out that you still need to have priorities, and probably pay over their market to keep them.
