Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

I think we are paying part of Batemans contract for last year & this year, can anyone confirm this.
That's right, he joined in 2023 on a 4-year contract this would be the last season so some kind of freight would have been tipped in to get rid of Johny.

What a stinky contract it was and a sign for me that Sheens was past it as a coach, the crappy form was there for everyone to see.

Is he the last of our funded ex players? Bud sullivan I know was another one where we may still be paying some freight this year.
Pretty sure Bud is the only other one mate and this is the last year too, think after his contract was done with Souths the freight was reduced.

Hope smarter signings going forward keep this wasted cap money to a minimum but one will always rear its ugly head, Toa the next anchor around the neck.

It does happen a lot at other clubs as well not just us, always churning in the hope of strengthening your outfit.

There was a bloke on here that lived in Pomlandia telling anyone who’d listen how shite he’d been on the field the previous season. Obviously Sheens was not reading the WTF.

Some old coots are set in their ways hey Butt, after his successes his way would be the best way and stuff anyone else's opinions lol.

20yo Newcastle right centre Wilson De Courcey set to depart the club at the end of the season, according to Newcastle Herald.

I remember you advocating for the Tigers to sign him last year in a podcast @jrtiger

He or Kyle McCarthy could be good depth outside back options. McCarthy much stronger defender.

When you include the ridiculous transfer fee the club forked out as well it was over 3 million bucks wasted out of our salary cap.

Was Bud a 4 year Deal mate?
- We still got Bird on the Books I'd reckon.

He had a tough game against us but definitely is talented, I wonder why he’s opting to leave Newcastle

Not to mention it also caused us to lose Hastings, who in my opinion was our best player at the time.
Hastings hid well behind that...
Hastings himself is the only other person I've heard say he thought he was our best player.

Was bought as a lock, Didn't want to play Lock - So left for Newcastle
(Where he played lots of Lock in Reserve Grade)

Nice enough Guy for a Strange cat, Unfortunate for him with his last name that he never was
or ever will be an NRL calibre player.

Does this mean:

We need to target a top level nr 7 with Jerome Luai's money?

Madden is good 7 depth. Not the first grade answer.
I think they’ll play AD there

Tbh this weekend id play Jarome at 7 and Latu at 6

Jarome at least talks and lets be honest his attack has been terrible so it’s probably better him getting his hands on the ball more

Did he actually say that? lol.
He didn't leave because he didn't want to play lock, he left because Batemans one condition to come here was get rid of Hastings.

Not saying he was a superstar, but our team at the time was terrible. I think he was the only one putting in 100% effort and trying to uphold some sort of standards.

I'm with you mate. I thought Hastings was the one bright spot we had in that otherwise bleak year. Wish we'd kept him until the end of his contract.

Yeah, Bud was 4 years, checked on the net before posting.

Unfortunately, I think you might be right about Birdy mate, they were desperate to get rid of him and that usually means paying for the privilege.

That was another signing I thought was crap from the beginning, a Dragon's discard, wow didn't he rise to great heights.
