What have we got to lose bringing an attempted murderer who hasn’t played top level footy for so many years into the squad?

- was the same for DeBelin I’d reckon.
But the NSW cup records are online - he hasn’t played cup since 18 I’d reckon - he played mostly NRL in 2019…
Also turns 28 at the same time he gets out and only had 34 NRL matches total when he was playing - 7 years ago.
Be fed to him by a cohort here - they all work (conspire) together…

I had a look on De Balin from what I found he played no games anywhere during his stand down period as well. Guess you aren’t allowed to play any grade when you’re stood down.
If he was involved with them during that period it must not have been as a player. Can’t see anywhere about him not playing a game since he got stood down.

I think too many people live sheltered lives and/or have never crossed paths with proper bad guys.

I expect they want to upgrade him for 2027 as part of the extension.
I don’t care so much for the back story - if it happens it happens, doesn’t bother me much… politics don’t interest me.
Just the logistics and the reality of it.
Blokes comparing the situation to Packer without even bothering with the Math.
Packer was out of the game for 1 year, then a year in ressies - then back to NRL with 100 games behind him.
Or Xerri, who was a free man - and back around the game after 4 years at 23-24
Tiny was out of the game maybe 12-18 months and still only 22-23.
Nobody comparing it to Sandor Earl - who came back in late 20’s was dogshit - picked up a big injury, then back again to being below average to retirement…
It’s just so long out, and so far from where he’s been to where he wants to be.
I wish him luck - but I’m not wasting a top 30 spot on him so the papers can write puff pieces on the family playing together - if he earns it, have it - but that won’t be happening until he’s 30 odd (if ever)

He is from a good family and has made a terrible mistake that has a huge impact on his and the victims life, but I’d say if he has learnt his lesson and the club steps to ascertain that then it would be a bigger risk not to give him a shot at rugby league redemption especially if the club or Benji have made suggestions along those lines… if he has changed and wants to turn his life around and redeem himself then the club has a chance to be part of an incredible, uplifting and inspiring story.. in Australia and with our own mythology I’d like to think a lot of us believe everybody deserves a second chance,,,

I read it as they are trying to free up money in 2027. The club will be trying to add $$$ to Samuela’s final year of his current deal as part of the extension.
From memory of earlier reports, Royce is on approx $500k, Seyfarth & To’a in the $400-$450k range each, so all 3 are arguably getting paid more than their current value to us.
This is all not relevant to a Latu extension as his current salary is probably what he is worth if not more.

There are players out there who have earned their go and they shouldn’t be pushed aside because some loser who has been sitting on his arse in a prison cell for years was a good player almost a decade ago.

Would we miss any of them B, Seyfarth was ordinary when brought in early, Royce provides impact but with his weight loss I was expecting more minutes but no, as for Toa meh.
