Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Leilua unhappy at minimal.game time at Saints looking for an immediate release.

If we got him cheap for this year and next only then renegotiate...could be handy

Desperate times

Hate saying this but he is better than anyone we have on the bench this week regardless of being inconsistent.

Would only sign him for this season not multi years if was even an option.

I would normally say no to this but we are in dire straits and Luciano definitely helps for the remainder of the year. Id be happy to give him next year as Royce Hunts replacement as well. Luciano definitely helps fill an edge temporarily even with his deficiencies. Has more talent in his little finger than most of our forwards. I also believe he would be much more effective middle forward than what Hunt is.

If somehow we can go into next year with Averillo replacing Toa, Luciano replacing Hunt, Blore replacing Seyfarth and Walters replacing Hope, we will be much stronger

Which makes their results all the more shocking. Have you considered maybe all clubs don't share the same barriers to success?
Lol - you're the one who threw them up as an example and you threw in the Broncs as well - maybe you should put forward a club whose football expenditure actually supports your argument.

I don't want to argue with you because you tend to want to "win" rather than get to some consensus, but in the spirit of debate, what do you think the problem is?

Also, do you think money is always spent wisely? Australia is a good example of a country that blows good money after bad and doesn't use it very well, but does that mean money doesn't matter?

Replace poor depth options with other poor depth options. That's your take. A bad one at that. And basically what the club had done for years.

Blore is another who is a poor choice. That bloke cost Melbourne a couple of GFs. Despite his pros, Bellamy hasn't been able to shake the laziness and lack of hunt out of his game. And even being down on troops, Bellamy has decided to keep him on the fringes and bring in other players - one of which was under Wests nose all this time.

Do you expect Wests Tigers to have depth options that are genuine premiership class players? Shawn Blore started in the backrow for the Melbourne storm in a grand final and you are telling me he would be a poor option for depth at the worst club in NRL history? Hahahaha very unrealistic expectations. Blore replacing Seyfarth as a very good upgrade if the money is similar

Here is the latest financial report from Parra - it is $12 million or so on football related expenses. less than half of Brisbane. Everyone is focusing (incorrectly) on revenues....it's the expenses that matter here.

Fair chance a large chunk of that is related to the centre at Kellyville.
Reckon they also cover a bit more ground in the Juniors than Ashfield.

We have to stop looking at desperation signings. Every signing has to be with an eye on the future. Players who are been shown the door by their current clubs have a big red warning sign plastered over their melons in 99% of cases.

As a club we have to make massive improvements in identifying talent and developing talent. We have let far too many players for a long time walk out the door only for them to carve out a good career elsewhere. Iam not talking about elite players, more your meat and potato style NRL player. Guys like Ray Stone and Sam McIntrye, of course there any many more.

It is depressing being a fan of our club seeing us flounder year after year when if we had sufficient funding and the right people calling the shots things could be a whole lot better

Cooper clarke called into the nsw origin squad...

Does anyone know why we didn't want him? Was he crap in the 16s or something?
You’ve gotta be kidding me. He’s an ok player, but picked for Origin now? No! Daley’s an idiot. There’s a ton of better props going around, Jackson Ford can’t get a look in, despite playing with the second top team. No let’s pick a rookie from the underwhelmingly performing Storm instead 🙄

Hear, hear…
Shawn is a better defender and has some other attributes to his game other than tries hard - which he also does.

Luke Laulilii, Denzel Shaafhausen-Mino, Pheonix Godinet, Cooper Clarke (gone) and Kohan Lewis with Harold Matthews coach Robbie Mears

Looks tall and lean. Just what our scouts - identifies of talent can't see? H. Matthews 2023
We like the smaller types.
Will they ever learn?
How we let Mears go is beyond me…
Coaching Ball at the Panthers, probably work his way up to grade.

Never afraid of rolling up the sleeves

Most responses to all this use zero context of the situation. Absolutely zero. No one saying they should be first picked, but as you say, as depth, money similar, it is an upgrade.
