I guess the club knows he won’t be part of our future & may prefer to give others the opportunity on the left wing this season ahead of him - Skelton, Makasini, Saukuru, Tavana & even potentially Fainga’a if required.
Yeah but we barely have enough players to field a full team atm
It’s not like we are in the top 4 with ample depth
If we lose 2 backline players we are screwed, we don’t even have a permanent winger baring Turuva
As far as I remember, we have had Maka, Skelton, Luke, Toa and Tavana all play on that wing and we still do not have a preferred winger. Depth would have helped
I hope we have a mid-season sitting lined up

About $50k to spend next year would be my guess …
Not trying to justify it … but the club must obviously see some merit … Im kinda surprised Luke has agreed to it ,… maybe Benji telling him he will be welcomed back in 2 years after Perth if he helps em out now ..

the nrl and government for 2027 are still allowing gambling advertising on nrl jerseys etc

And this broadcast deal starts from 2028… the jersey sponsor won’t affect the TV money
The real answer though to the question you responded to is the gambling advertising isn’t as lucrative as thought by many…about $30m a year each for NRL and AFL broadcasters

Melbourne are hopeful of securing Dolphins forward Oryn Keeley before the June 30 transfer window closes as a stack of clubs look to make mid-season moves.
It is understood the Storm are keen on getting Keeley to the club before the transfer window closes on Tuesday with talks between the two clubs well advanced.
Keeley has already agreed to a two-year deal to join the Storm from next season but both parties have been in discussions about fast-tracking that switch.
The 23-year-old has been a consistent member of the Dolphins squad this year, playing six matches including their win against the Tigers last week.
He was named in the Dolphins squad on Tuesday, but missed out on the final 19 for their match against the Warriors on Saturday.
The Storm have struggled to keep a consistent back-row partnership going given Eliesa Katoa’s season-long absence.
Melbourne and the Dolphins aren’t alone in potential player movement happening in the next few days;
• The Tigers are likely to secure Junior Tupou from the Roosters. Tupou was a rising star when he left the Tigers in 2024, but has had limited success with stints at the Roosters and the Dolphins.
• Tupou’s likely move comes after the Tigers agreed to allow Luke Laulilii to join the Warriors for the rest of the season before he moves to Perth next year.
• Despite interest from the Broncos, it is unlikely that off-contract Luciano Leilua will move on from St George Illawarra mid-season. Leilua’s request for a release was knocked back by the Dragons.
• Storm forward Lazarus Vaalepu is set to move to the Super League. Vaalepu played the last of his 12 first grade games in round 26 last year.
The Warriors were desperately looking to add an outside back to their roster given the season ending injury to Roger Tuivasa-Sheck.
They spoke about St George Illawarra flyer Tyrell Sloan and Parramatta centre Sean Russell but ended up securing 20-year-old Laulilii.

Berry is good and obviously levels above Junior …but he is a total croc,,, what are you gunna offer him that he would take to move to Australia?
Junior is under contras for 2027 ..so assume we will be picking thst up to

teams with existing gambling logos on jerseys are allowed to keep them until end of 2028
correct it won't affect the TV money just another blight on the pvl gambling machine he peddles along with his vegas odyssey and the quest for more of the u.s. sportsbook.
As fir the TV rights not sure what nine could do except.pay it, same with Dazn if they had lost nrl they would have been stuffed.
