Courier Mail: Storm star Shawn Blore tours Brisbane Broncos facilities as club attempts to fill backrow void

The Broncos have ramped-up their aggressive recruitment drive with Brisbane targeting Storm grand final back-rower Shawn Blore.

This masthead can reveal Brisbane bosses have met with the Melbourne forward, who toured the Broncos’ facilities on Wednesday in the lead-up to Saturday night’s blockbuster against the Cowboys in Townsville.

The off-contract 25-year-old is without a deal for next season and has been in talks with Melbourne about extending.

Blore played against Brisbane in last year’s NRL decider but the Samoa international could find himself in Broncos colours next season as the defending premiers look to bolster their back-row stocks.

Strike back-rower Brendan Piakura has been stood down indefinitely due to a series of head knocks and Broncos coach Michael Maguire confirmed his interest in Blore.

“Yes, ‘Blorey’ is a player of interest,” Maguire said.

“We have to look at building our depth in the back row so we’re looking across the competition at a number of options.

“We haven’t made an offer to Shawn as yet, but we’re talking to him and we’ll see where it goes.
Let him go there that means we pick up a Ray Stone and Leon Spinks so be it.

Tallis Duncan is right up there with them, if not better than both.
mate of mine knows Duncan's old man through the Navy, we tried to get Duncan prior to him re-signing with souths in 2025, he was pretty keen but the magic of bennet prevailed.
I would say we have a good chance next contract end of 2027. Not sure what it would cost tigers though ?

penrith having a sniff around alex seyfarth for next year also 🤔

and everyone is correct $hawn Blore , tigers think it's too much

schuuster might get a run in cup by the end of the year, but club isnt in a hurry, he played fine in cup for souths it's behaviour at training that was the concern, he will be on train and trial if he trains hard

Richo was close to the Duncan family from his days with Souths. With Richo’s exit we are zero chance of getting Duncan when ever his contract runs out.

Don't know why people want Blore injury prone don't need anymore of that and gone backwards so much at Storm either a bench or nsw cup player

we want bore because our forward depth is bordering on Ron Massey standard.

I don't particularly want blore, but I want forward depth and don't want to see some of the guys used this year ever again, or some of the bench rotations (or lack of where we play our whole pack for 80 mins cause we have no-one competent)

The issue is guys like Sukkar and Geyer were supposed to be the depth in the forwards. Sukkar is a mystery to me . He goes real well in cup , and then comes up to nrl and is an abomination . Geyer ….. I mean talk about dining out on your last name .
If either or both of those guys played at the level that was expected , and you can chuck Murray in there as well and hope , all 4 of those guys were supposed to do a job in case of injury. And none of them have / did.
Maybe it’s because they all needed to be given opportunities is a pack where they were given token minutes or off the bench or defending in edges where they were only one missing instead of often with that whole edge sitting on the sideline , I mean that’s probably true , but still . They all been disappointing , and as the stars of the team filter back post thier injuries and try and find form in a league where form is so dependant on consistency and understanding the rhythm of the season , I dunno …. 🤷‍♀️

If big red leaves, we will have even less depth #shambles

Seyfarth isn’t off contract? Does that mean we could get a player swap or we’re just idiots
