He was starting 13 for the Raiders in there worst period this year. Raiders fans happy to pack his bags. Newcastle turned a half into a hooker because Brailey was terrible, in fact Knights had the worst attack in which he was a key part of & he got dropped from that. You guys can spin this all you want but it’s a terrible addition. In saying that we seem to celebrate players who turn up to play because not all of our players do that. We had a chance to grab Connor Watson for a year, we had a chance to grab Dylan Walker for 2 years but didn’t.

I would also offer Blake Lawrie a two year contract 320K a year as a squad filler would be a good pickup but most likely off to Melbourne

Twal at 102kg is not a run on prop. This BS of him being our prop savior is rubbish.
A hard-working toiler with a good motor. More suited to the lock position than a prop.
We need a real prop of around 115kg that busts tackles or hurts the defence. Or a 110kg type that has crash tackles all game. No idea where we can get one, but Twal is not the answer of our prop problem.
Otherwise, we stay at the backend of the comp.

I don't know what I feel about the Brailey signing. There are other positions in the forwards that need filling more urgently. I do however get the utility value of a player of his skill.

If he was signed as a 14 I suppose I'm ok with that, but it may put the younger rakes offside with the club.

I still think the Wests Tigers need an experienced half (not Averillo he's an outside back pure and simple) and another NRL standard centre, prop and second rower to be competitive.

I just wish it was the other Brailey we signed!

Hope Averillo isnt coming as a 6. Can we just play players where they regularly play instead of being too smart for ourselves and trying to reengineer the wheel. I totally get our halves are young but if we never put them in at 6 and 7 whats the point in a lower grade if we never use them. If we never use them how will we know of theyre upto it or if we need to bring other players in.

Agree, if they wanted an experienced player at six then why didn’t they try to sign Nikorima, not Averillo who is a centre at best. Or just bloody play Andrews and Latu together in the halves like you said. The use of Latu in just about every position but the one he actually plays has been an abomination.

I am unsure if we will be able to recruit externally. If not, Twal moving up and a player such as Aho being promoted if he continues to improve may be an option.

Tell that to every genius on the forum who wants to move Samuela into the middle despite the fact hes been the best backrower we've had since Gareth Ellis (not an exaggeration, we've had no good backrowers). The reason we, and everyone else rates him so highly is because of how well he's performed at BACKROW.

He may have played middle in juniors but thats because he was a much bigger body compared to his peers. Now that he's playing with other big bodies, his body shape, type and strength in his lower body makes him the absolute perfect athlete and body type to play on an edge. You wouldn't see Manly move Haumole into the middle or the Roosters move Cordner into the middle in his prime, but for some reason our fans want to make a positive into a negative. Then we wonder why players don't develop properly and excel at other clubs.

No way in hell we ever move Samuela or KPP from the 2nd row. If fit out 2nd row is set and the two of them make one of if not the best pair of backrowers in the comp.

Nassar is done I just don’t know what contract level he’s on. the club’s been pretty good at negotiating at that level the past few years so I’d wager it’s likely T&T with a grade preseason.

Interestingly Fatima at DT has Archie Duncombe listed as Dev in her story today on each club’s best U23 talent. She’d get this info from the club but dorsn’t specify whether now or next season.

Its my one major gripe with Benji. Maybe he picked it up off Sheens but i hate playing players out of position. D prefer a reserve grader at centre than a first grade winger switch positions. The reserve grade player might get toweled up but they play in the position they know, get first grade experience and more importantly shows the guys in reserve grade that first grade isnt a closed club that thrre are opportunities if theyre good enough, promoting them to train and play harder for an opportunity or when injury hits first grade. Replace like for like, if guys in reserves are found out then in time we move them on and replace them to build better depth aswell. Not too sure though in the modern N.R.L game with the top 30 if thats possible anymore like it usrd to be in the past.

He is a great squad filler cheap and mite play 4-6 games next year off the bench and he's not a starter he's just there to help protect Haywood

When API is out start Brailey for 20 minutes let him tackle the big guys then bring on the young kid it's perfect

We always sign these players saying they are just squad fillers. But we know he will be a starter in our team.

Last night I saw a Canterbury player play the ball right on the Melbourne tryline while facing sideways. I not sure whether it was a trick play or poor play, but referee said all good here. Bet he would not if it was a Tiger or Saints player. The dogs scored a try in that play.

Don’t forget the try they got from a knock on , every broadcaster said it was a knock on , I watched it 10 times it was a knock on , the nrl and the bunker want to make sure the dogs make the finals

If we want to be serious about making finals we definitely need to bolster our pack. We must add at least one hard aggressive starting prop with some leg speed, one decent edge player who can defend and possibly one genuine 13 (especially if AD, Twal, Brailey or Seyfarth aren’t the answer at lock).
Our prop rotation should be: new prop, May, Pole, Twal, Hunt, Sione
Our edge KPP, Sam F, new edge guy, Roberts
Dummy Halves- Api, Brailey, Haywood
Depth - Seyfarth plus young guys coming thru.
Hopefully the injection of 2-3 new guys that are the right characters can lift our current lads to achieve a harder edge week in week out. We need a pack that can dominate the opposition in A and in D.

This is 110% spot on Twally is a solid lock , he doesn’t break the line when used in prop he gets stopped and pushed back be need props that go forward only and hurst in defence , hit hard , we need a back up Backrower , back up centre and a couple props unless we got one hidden but he better be tough no nonsense , if he is there bring him onto the bench and give him a crack with men

Well deserved if he has picked up a dev contract for next year. 1 player that you can rely upon to have a dig and do all the 1% stuff every single week. A pre-season or 2 with the nrl boys could increase his physical presence and take his game further.

Brailey is a great signing. If it wasn’t for the raiders already having two nrl options he’d be staying. Can’t forget that he was the knights captain. Real solid defender and does the little things well. He’ll play that lock/9 role that Latu has done this year and be so much better at starting if Api is hurt than Hope. Allows Heywood the breathing room to slowly progress as a 9
