I think we all need to admit Luai has hardly been a marquee man for us.

Major work to be completed over the next month , before the break and before pre season starts .
SamF to be re signed - major priority
Benji - told to dump both assistant coaches ( hodgo & Heighno ) .
Bring in Shane Flanagan as one assistant and bring in another from a solid club like Cordiner or similar .
Give the players unwanted there marching orders .
Start chasing players even ones under contract at clubs where they just miss a start , need 3 or 4 of these .
Start signing couple more nrl players like Alverillo and Brailey need 2 more of these .but they must have footy brains , we lost yesterday due to nobody being able to see what was coming , it was simple what Parra did and you knew what they were going to do , all,except our players , not even close to stopping it . Footy brains required .
Swing Andrew’s and Latu into nrl side and keep,them there rest of season , off the bench or what ever but they must play in every game win loose or draw .
Any player with injury send to hospital and get it sorted now so they can be ready for pre season - KPP , May Jnr , AD , Bulla , anyone get them fixed .

Apparently those injured players can’t be forced to undergo surgery as some want to play in the World Cup. Once again it would be personal gain over club. The RLPA also supports this player priority.

It backfired big time, had a small impact on culture but then signed with PNG which along with multiple key players injured derailed our season.

Andrew Johns I have mentioned before many times it would be a great idea to, 2 days a week with our main attackers and yes slater for Bulla and a hard edge ex prop like Hargreaves from roosters or similar to give our props the heads up on running and busting tackles or needing 3 or 4 to pull you down , also how to hit hard in defence , Poles Run yesterday to score should be a std attack for us , but it was out of the blue , we need our big boys and edge boys running in hard , we had it earlier in season with KPP on one side and Sam F on the other it was a 2 sided attack then Hunt comes on to punch holes up the middle

Wasn't Bula working with GI? what ever happened to that?

I don't know man - he play far more games at 6 for us. Don't think it mattered in the scheme of things.

I spoke with Justin Pascoe once and ran some ideas past him, he said, we don't just sit around on our hands, but we have to wait till opportunities present themselves.

This statement in its self, i found stupid.
Hopefully Shaun is more proactive.

We need to make the calls now and start building for the future.

I also spoke with Justin Pascoe a little while before he got dumped, pretty much got the same reply Depms. I wouldn’t discount Gardiner - any asst coach worth his salt can see how fast the transition to head coach could be here

High Hopes…
Who hires an experienced coach on the hope it will work out.

Might be overlooking the fact that it more often than not doesn’t work out - even when the coaches have experience

Which is one of the reasons Benji wouldn’t have him anywhere near the place.

I don’t think that’s true man, he’s not foreign to being a 7
You don’t think a coach that tells him something more than “go out and express yourself” could have got more from him being the lead playmaker.
There’s plenty of proof that the good coaches can turn running players into decent 7’s..

The biggest mistake we made was not having decent coaching structure for him to come into when paying top dollar for a marquee player

I don’t mind it man, we have a couple good young hookers and halves who’ll play plenty of cup next year
- and I don’t mind having an old head down there with plenty of miles in him to push them about.

He might see a few games up top under duress - but that’s about it.
Haywood will have him towelled up after pre season.

Jesus he will be a good example to Heywood about the short career cycle of being the best young hooker coming through .only for your own brother to take your spot .. brailey is a pro that can help harden Haywood up and also mentor him as to the life of a professional NRL 9

I think if you look back at the first 7 games, he didn't do much in attack...in fact I think he was being criticised about his lack of contribution in that area.

Look, I'm fine with the opinion that he was a superstar if people want to believe that, but he's been here 18 months and we've come 13th and now probably 16th, so the impact has not been there from a results point of view.

Look, I'm fine with the opinion that he was a superstar if people want to believe that, but he's been here 18 months and we've come 13th and now probably 16th, so the impact has not been there from a results point of view.

I like to look deeper than results, as that’s where the answers are. Luai was good against Cows, ordinary/ injured v Bunnies, then missed 3 wins through injury, not long after returning he was strong in the Raiders win at LO. Watching him closely he was the emotional leader on the field. Not sure on timing but around then made his PNG decision.

We were up near the top of the ladder when decision was made.

Could have been purely money. Guess we’ll probably never know.

His main positive impact was on recruitment, again results not reflective of that now, but there are deeper causes for those results.

Big question now is can we / how do we fill the void left.

We do not have a JWH or Yeo in our squad to keep him in check.
