Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Well, it couldn’t have gotten any worse as they were gone.
I’d love to find out how HBG see themselves profiting from their involvement now.
As a board member you are accountable for financial decisions and their failures… although not sure if the weird debenture set up of our club would somehow protect them.
Can’t really see how though.

I know they were gone. The implication is that being owned by HBG is worse than not existing.

I heard a rumour yesterday that Kurt Mann to the Tigers next year, I think he is 33, thoughts on this.
Obviously that's AI generated, however it's not too far from the truth. The marriage between Balmain and Wests has been a major mistake.

The only thing worse than a failed marriage is staying in one.
I am not against the JV , they were both put in a position of merge or perish , the cashed up Super League Bulldogs were licking their lips at the time and would have taken over the entire Campbelltown area in a heartbeat

Tigers utility facing clouded future

Heath Mason’s future at the Wests Tigers is up in the air with the versatile utility off contract for next season.

The former Australian Schoolboys five-eighth has looked promising when given the chance at NRL level but his ability to play anywhere in the backline is counting against him - he can’t secure a regular start in any one position.

But that ability to fill several holes has attracted some interest from rival clubs both in Australia and overseas.

The joint venture hasn’t said no to the local junior who is something of a fan favourite, but the closer we get to November 1, the more chance he will be playing elsewhere next season.

I disagree. The Bunnies are proof of a legally flawed argument. The Dragons and Steelers have gone through some incredible problems, and we're continuing through that too.

We're now seeing the reality of this mess. And to add the Bears, some weird PNG team, and possibly an NZ team (which makes more sense). It still shows that PVL is an idiot, and that's why Abdo left.

The mass exodus is happening.

So HBG will now be contributing about as much money to a women's football team outside their home geographic region as they do on Wests Tigers.

I'm happy the Mariners have found an owner but it's pretty insulting to WT members, staff and players for them to be so miserly with us but then splash out on another code in another city!
If wests Ashfield is a non profit set up these sporting clubs become a huge tax dedication for them , the more they have the better , all, sporting clubs including soccer , footy , union , cricket , Darts , pigeon racing , if it’s a club under them it’s a tax dodge , they don’t give a shat about Wests Tigers and that why they won’t sell it , it’s a major tax break on them , hey will just put in enough to keep us there but results don’t affect the tax effect they get , they are a disgrace , and the debenture holders are also a disgrace for what they have don’t over the years , complete fools in over their heads , one thing needs to happen PVL to step in and tune them up

Former Wests Tiger John Bateman is off back to the Old Dart at season's end:

"John Bateman’s time in the NRL will officially come to a close at season’s end after the North Queensland Cowboys forward decided to ink a two-year contract with the Bradford Bulls."

Looked promising. Fan favourite. 🤣
Article must have been written by his mum.

Theyre supposed to be a not for profit why do they care sbout tax breaks. Theyre supposed to give the money away to community orgs anyway.

Another thing that stands out to me is our current ceo was their former ceo. Im hoping his time hasnt been spent on trying to organise a deal between his former club and HBG. Being a HBG employee he is still ceo of Wests Tigers and thats whrre his full attention belongs. If HBG direct him into other things thats too bad for them.

All expenses come first the tax breaks keep money at the club so those grubs on the board can spend it then there is money allocated to local organisations, sporting club , the board went for a pay rise this year can you believe that and the tax helps them get it , probably got cars as well , lots of free lunches , free drinks , Visa card each to make sure they are cashed up when out all from tax money

Sound like a massive slush fund.
