Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Interesting that Ethan Sanders is being rested by Ricky so he can have a look at Coby Black. Tells me he is looking for something else at 7. I woukd take Ethan in a heartbeat. Very good kicking game, bigger body half, and kicks goals. He will be more than a decent NRL 7. A good young organiser who can play a bit of footy without being an out and out star. I woukd be watching that space there if I was Benji. Very easy for Ethan to move back home.

In my honest opinion, I see Doueihi as a running second rower only. Possibly lock if he could learn to distribute but that is against his DNA. When he played centre way back our wingers were starved. What is the point of developing good wingers if he is going to starve them.
If you want proof look at the backline movements when he was not playing. Enough said.

I know people hate him, and they are totally justified. But we are screwed if AD leaves. I know that’s not a popular opinion, and I’d get it if we had a replacement, but we don’t. And if we do, it’s going to be a fringe first grader like O’Sullivan. Andrews/Latu pairing isn’t the answer. Andrews has played one game and Latu, don’t even get me started. AD is a necessity at this stage.

I can see what you are saying mate. There is a lot to weigh up here.

Positives:
Doueihi brings game breaking ability. He brings more experience than the other options.

Negatives
His style of play is very selfish.
His style hinders the players around him' stifling their ability to show their best.
Are we allowing poor standards by keeping him?
Is the team off him a little and moral will be better with him gone?

I think its obvious where I sit with this one lol

I swe him as a edge backrower as well in attack. However he doesnt have the heart edge back rowers need defensively.

@Demps did you see a player you have been suggesting for quite some time, Wilson De Courcey just signed with the Broncos which I assume would be a top 30 deal.
Being only 20 years old, big and fast, he will likely be high up on the Broncos depth chart and play plenty of NRL over the next few years.

We need to make getting Sebastian Kris a priority in my opinion and I think we will land him if we do.
Yeah, I saw that.
Hes actually quite tall in person too.

I could see him becoming a good player at the broncos. Has the physical attributes to become a great outside back.

Surprised to see all the negativity around Seb Kris - he walks into our backline imo, on the wing, pushing Tupou out. He's a good player.

He plays a bit like Moses, but isn't arrogant.
Classy player i reckon. Big future.

Doueihi is a great player to have in your top 30, and on his day can do a great job.

He lacks the desire for a contest, precious about where he plays. He improves our team and weighs us down at the same time….
We spend so much energy trying to accommodate him, and build a team around him - but he’s not that type of player (as much as he has everyone fooled) he’s not a cake base - he’s the icing sugar…

His fan base convince us how amazing he is, but he’s had less options leaving than Luke Brooks did, and he’s been off contract more often.

Hard one, I like him - but I’m sick of talking about him…
he doesn’t offer enough in his preferred position for us to be so tied to him.

Your point about us spending so much energy to accommodate hom is exactly what I have been saying. He is holding us back from developing a consistent style of attack.

Speaking of player motivation ;

What I don’t get is a lot of fans here think that the past two years in a row, the team has apparently been derailed by a player leaving or wanting to leave at the end of the season ..;

I don’t necessarily agree that this has been the case ,and that other factors could be to blame for our mid season swoon. I’m not there though , so if this is true , are we at all confident that there won’t be another blow up with AD mid season next year, leading to him walking out on the club?

If Benji thinks AD position next season isn't in the halves unless injuries hit, he needs to be told that during the off season, if he doesn't like that then there's the door Humphrey.

No interruptions from him ever again.

Either Sanders or Black would be good for us. Like you I rate Sanders, his kicking game is great. As far as a no6, I think Andrews should be given a real shot at the gig in 2027. His game is not going to get better with another year in reserve grade

I think Latu has earned first opportunity at the 6 if someone else is playing 7. Javon would really benefit from another year defending against men.

Funny thing is Sanders is 17 months older then Latu and had plzyed 4 nrl games coming into this yr

Black is 10 months younger but is only making his debut today.
