Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

You're living in the past. Go back and read the thread.

If you want to compare the Mortimer and Hughes families to the Fainu and May families, you're dreaming. They won three premierships.

Since the Fainu and May families have been at our club, we have come -

I was just answering your question when you asked why any team would build their team on two families.
Gave you an example and you’re complaining?
Didn’t see you put a time limit up…. mainly because you didn’t.

None of the american ones count because its a different market

The older clubs have prior use exemptions from before trademarks

The Blues being a colour has meant neither organisation has been able to hold a trademark.

So none of those are relevant examples to this case

- Auckland Blues (Rugby) and NSW Blues (NRL)

- Richmond Tigers (AFL) and Wests Tigers (NRL)

These compete.
Why arent they relevant?

You must be thinking of Twal from 5 years ago. If twal was fit, there was a good chance he would have made the blues squad. He was in great form this year and every club would have him if they could
He was a very solid player, absolutely. He let no one down and would be a valuable addition to all top 17s. However your player of the year should not be a solid prop who makes 120m and 30 tackles every week, it should be someone who wins you matches on a regular basis and makes a real difference.

I explained that. Colours are challenging for trademark registration and Richmond and us have been using Tigers for decades before trademarks existed

A quick google tells me that Trademark laws have been around since 1905. Balmain Tigers were founded in 1908.

If we look at something more recent, the Auckland Blues were founded in 1996 to launch the super rugby competition. They are competing in the same market as the NSW Blues.

They are throwing their toys out of the cot because their game is dying. They should be scared, not of the PNG Chiefs, but the NZ Warriors. If anything, their panic draws more people's attention to the NRL.
