Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

I don’t believe I made positive comments on the other three.

There is a lack of decent half backs in the game. Fogarty is one. Would enable whoever our six is to play accordingly and spread the ball wide.

Fogarty is 32. Still should have some miles in his legs. If it forces out AD so be it.
At this stage, I think dumping Adam’s contract would be a mistake. We need depth, even though Adams manager, Isaac Moses, has proven to be a cancer to the game. Fogarty, in my opinion, is not the answer.

Adam's game impact metric is +5.90, compared to Jamal's +5.00. Adam has the added advantage of being able to cover multiple positions, which Jamal can't.

Adam's biggest liability is his body. He's extremely injury-prone. Jamal's biggest liability is his age, he'll be 33 next year.
Adam cannot cover positions. He can only play one position and that's 5/8. He cannot play centre or fullback. He can't play halfback. He won't play in the forwards.

He's a selfish player, that makes everyone around him worse. He has some individual skills but his body and his attitude is appalling. Ultimately he's a toxic player and needs to be released ASAP.

We are also short of players with genuine tackle break and line break ability.
We are one of the worst, if not the worst team in the NRL in that area .
AD is close to our best tackle breaker and line breaker, so who is going to make the tackle breaks and line breaks if we get rid of him?
Even if you have Nathan Cleary in your team, he cannot do much to help if the team is very limited in way of tackle break and line break ability.
This is why we can't sign Murray, Mason and Sukkar. None of them can break a tackle. We already have players at 29 and 30 like Herbert and Roberts who can't break tackles and are on minimum. If we suddenly have 7-8 players on minimum who offer no value or versatility to an NRL side then we're effectively playing with a top 22 and a heap of NSW cup players

This might be a fair observation if he had only started playing selfish footy on his current contract. A few years back he was reportedly on about $650k and still playing the same selfish footy.

If I had to make up a reason why (other than him being a selfish player generally), I'd say it comes back to his high school days. He is one of the few regular first graders that didn't come through one of the top school programs. He didn't have the quality around him that most did, so he often would have had to go himself. This play has been ingrained in him to the point we still see it today (though I think more likely just a selfish footballer, rather than anything to do with junior days).
He played rugby union in high school for St Patrick’s Strathfield.

So we made an offer and got rejected in less than a week? It’s that or we were anti tampering.
Or a journo had a slow news day and knows that WTs parent owns an ALW franchise.

Mary earns $600k a year at Man City plus she has a $10m 5 year Adidas sponsorship which i am sure they leveraged against her appearances with City. The ALW salary cap is $670k so I am not sure how the Mariners are fielding a side.

It's all bullshit or someone made an off the cuff comment and its been taken as gospel.

Jock is a good organiser who straightens the attack, and has a good short kicking game...but cant defend..cant kick long...
Cant fix the first one,but AD or others can help the long kicking issue
But hes heavily targeted in defence, and makes us very vulnerable against the better teams
So for me,hes just a backup
Thinking a bit left field, I wonder if Benji is considering Jock and Javon in the halves? Javon should be able to handle the physicality and has a long boot to compliment Jock. I am starting Latu off the bench until he can prove he can stay injury free. Not great for his development but he is too good to leave out of the team. As the 14 utility player would you rather Latu or Mason? I think we know the answer to that question.

Manly are trying to shed players, their cap is under pressure.
It beggars belief they are so under pressure cap wise. They must’ve royally screwed up the contracts for Turbo, Koula & Haumole because the rest of their roster is full of pretty average players, especially when you compare their team to the Roosters or even St George now the way they’re shaping up for next season.

Garrick is already gone and I don’t know if they’ve even brought in anyone of note for next season. Sounds like they’re paying overs for too many average players and putting a lot of stock into unproven juniors. We certainly know what that’s like!

Have you seen much of him BB?

I haven't so i dont want yo be a critical, but my gut tells me he is a Kannaan type junior. Strong and fast for his age but not much depth to his talent and wont progress to NRL.
Much much better than Kanaan. Didn't watch him at the dogs but statistically he was excellent.
He'd be faster than every back we had at the club this year. His defence against men will be the issue he has to work through most. But you could say the same for every player at the club too.

DCE ranks #114 Trindall #111

I would take those rankings with a grain of salt
Exactly, AD ranks above them.

Cutting ties early and clearing out that cap space gives our club a clean slate to build a team with a genuine focus on development, rather than banking on a collection of ageing players looking for one final payday.

Marquee players are outside of the cap. If Mary wanted to play in the Aleague to be closer to Nathan then her salary wouldn't fall under the cap and they could pay her as much as they want
