Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

I love the idea of having a tall athletic winger to kick too aka rona/tupou.. But unfortunately we dont have anyone that can do pinpoint kick 😂😂.

I'm sure a lot of work will go into his short kicking game. I think Liddle will also need to develop a short kicking game to provide variation and relieve pressure. Reynolds will assist as well.

I actually hope the Force survive. Sick to death of reading about Rona.

Rebels, Force remain in limbo as Super Rugby saga drags on
Omnisport 20 Jun 2017, 18:56

A decision on which Australian team will be cut from Super Rugby is no closer to being reached following an Australian Rugby Union (ARU) extraordinary general meeting on Tuesday. Seventy one days have passed since the ARU said it would announce within "48 to 72 hours" whether the Western Force or Melbourne Rebels would lose their place in the competition. However, while the majority of ARU members on Tuesday voted in favour of condensing from five Australian Super Rugby teams to four, there is still no clarity on which franchise will be cut. "We've got teams obviously that are looking to stay in the competition so we can't really control that time frame," said ARU chairman Cameron Clyne.

If we get both, I don't see an issue.

It adds depth which we currently don't have and creates a competitive environment within the club.

I would hope if we signed these two that we would end the search for outside backs and we start focusing on 2-3 more quality forwards.

Competition for spots is something we sorely need and don't have at the moment so if we can get Tupou and potentially Rona, it's fantastic for the club. Both players are FG quality. I'd look at Rona as more of a centre and consider Suli for the backrow given his speed is not exceptional.

Rona could potentially take over from Tui at fullback, Nofo on the wing or play centre, he would be a good buy and give us plenty of options.

Why sell ourselves short! We have every chance of picking up Rona and Tupou and Newy supporters are suggesting our bid for Watson is very attractive. I have confidence in Cleary.

From what ive seen of our backline…we need all three
Suli, Nofaluma and lolohea are all duds in my opinion

Wow, all duds.

Suli is what 18, in his first year and played every game. Lolohea has played 2 games and Nofo has been our best for a couple of years. His defence needs lots of work, but a dud? I don't think so.

😕 😕 😕

In today's Newcastle edition of the DT , Barry Toohey writes that we've offered Connor Watson 600k a season .

We are offering Watson the fullback position.

Wow - 600k a season

Question; Does anyone know why Daniel Viedo is playing reserves with Burliegh Bears. If he's on the outer would he be worth a look for us.

I can believe we offered a contract but not that much

Would have some height in the team Tupou 6'5, Rona 6'4, Matulino 6'4, Eisenhuth 6'4, ET 6'3, Twal 6'3, Packer 6'2, Suli 6'2, McQueen 6'2, Aloiai 6'1, Reynolds 6'1,Milne 6'0,

Wow - 600k a season

If thats close to the case which it often isn't, then i reckon Watson is viewed as either our first choice 7 or 1\. Wouldn't be surprised if Watson was our halfback to be honest.

That's what I think too, either 7 or 1, if we did end up signing him.
