Why can't it work?????

Have no idea of numbers but suppose each club can have an NRL team of 150 points and they must fit 30 players into that 150.

Say Cronk is rated a 10, Tedesco 10, Keary 7 etc. etc.

It doesn't matter whether you pay Cronk $10 or $1,000,000 he is still going to count as 10 points.

It is not a restriction of payments and tpa's are included and so on. There would still need to be a minimum wage.

You need to have some smart people to rate the players - that is the only contention.

I totally agree Russ, the only problem I see is that it might create a level playing field, the power brokers (Nic and co) wouldn't let it happen.

Frank-Paul Nuuausala on his way back from England via The Mole.

There's a reason Frank-Paul the wrecking ball was in England. Not really someone I'd be looking to sign at the moment. Especially with all the forwards we have now.

Just asking for a friend 😝

A rumour that the Roosters are under the salary cap and will be adding Josh Mansour, Nathan Cleary and Jason Taumalolo to their roster in 2019…

If players are ranked on achievements rather then ability the system would be fair and transparent.

That's alright. They'll lose Mitch Cornish to fit those 3 in.

Apparently Mapesone and Jesse Jackson are now with the Sea Eagles.

We have picked up winger/centre Lucas Price from the Sea Eagles who is tall and a good runner of the ball.

Was wondering the same thing myself can we keep to the subject please :brick:

There’s not one thread in this forum that doesn’t meanders off topic, it’s just the way it works.
Just go with the flow, and enjoy the ride.

Been told they can fit them all in for 2018 without offloading anyone, will need to offload Cornish only if they can snare Morgan too.

A points system is no more a restraint of trade or income limiting than what a dollar figure cap is.

What happens if you sign a player worth 2 points for 3 years and all of a sudden he has a breakout year, becomes a rep star and is worth 7 points the next year. Will clubs have to get rid of high point players and replace them with lower rated players?
Does the players contract get paid out?
Do points go down if the player is older or has not played rep footy in 4 years? Are Samoan test players valued the same as Australian? Kiwis would benefit as they do not play origin and would not be subject to point increases that incurs.
Would be an extremely complex system which may drive up player values and send clubs broke

Forget the points systems cash is the ultimate balancer. There will always be clubs with advantages in location, coaching, roster.
As a player if money is close you will sign with the stronger clubs as you get paid to play rep footy. There will always also be cheats in pro sports. Some clubs have done it with brown paper bags, corporate sponsors repaid by the clubs, discounted units for family members, house and land packages, jobs for family at inflated wages, inflated jobs after retirement. The Storm, Bulldogs and Eeels who are powerhouse clubs off the field have all been caught.

The best part about the Rorters' rorting is that they've still only managed 1 premiership in 14 years. That in itself is a sign of failure that must burn Unca Nick's arse.

Is this the longest ever topic pages wise? Just wondering

This or the Lote Tuqiri thread.cant remember but that was loooooong.

Just looks it up it was only 100 and something pages
This is the longest I remember, been on all the forums since 2004

This is the longest Rugby League related thread that is not an individual…...

As for an individual player that honour belongs to Robbie Farah ...that puppy went for well over 300 pages..

Honourable mentions recently Tedesco and Woods...

The largest of all had they been merged over the years would have been SACK THE COACH..Sheens and Taylor 60/40 split..
