With Cronk announcing his retirement the chooks can now sign TPJ, Taupau and Haas whilst staying under the cap.

That's right he signed for way less than the million dollars reported they told everyone, but now he has left they will have $1.5 million to spend.

I can pm those that want to know how they paid their players outside of the cap in the early 2000s. Just let me know.

Easy and it doesn't have to be a PM..I'll tell you now..

1 Polits and his mates are crap at golf
2.Helps when you never have to pay for food, drinks, clothes, hotels, cars, boats, education, ciggies or women when you go out ever again for life once you pull on a Rorters Jersey..

Sometimes I think our only chance for a fair comp is if the ATO come and bust down some doors. Come on ATO, NRL is practically an organised crime syndicate - all these wages being paid without tax, and they're all in on it. From players to players' families to player managers, clubs, NRL administration, club CEOs, NRL CEOs.

NRL will never change from within, they are rotten to the core. They need external pressure to uproot the disease. Every organisation needs something over them to keep them in line, NRL is no different, but it is long overdue.

The ATO would only bust players not declaring every cent that they earn and paying the tax they are supposed to. They could not share any information with the NRL.

The only way to change this would be a change to the collective bargaining agreement where players were required to provide copies of tax records to the NRL which has previously been rejected.

Look at Angus Crichton on domain. Not long after signing with the roosters, there was a story about his property purchase at rose bay. Look at the house he bought and the price, and then try to find a similar one advertised.

Crighton was offered $800k by souths to re-sign, yet he supposedly went to the roosters for less, yeh, the only ones who believe that are the easts supporters and the NRL

Sepp Blatter would look at home running the NRL the decisions he would make would look as equally fair as the ones we get now

Crichton, Cordner, Cronk and Tedesco are all on 1 million plus with Rorters. But not in their books.

Plenty of complaining but no action. Maybe Class Action should be taken by other clubs against the NRL and those clubs way outside CAP rules, i.e. Roosters.

Who'd sign it?

Manly, Parra, Cronulla, Dogs have all been done in the past for dodgy TPA's, and they are only the ones who were caught. Every club would be somehow in on it. To what depth is the only question.

There you go, as expected, in retirement Cronk's contract suddenly jumps to what most expected.

Cronk's retirement has been anticipated for some time, and now with the best part of $1 million in their 2020 salary cap, the Roosters' priority is upgrading Mitchell's current deal before he can field rival offers in November. source NRL.com

It has been very quite on the signings / re-signing front at Tigers.. Is this due to no Boss until next month or are we just behind the 8 ball as per normal.. Does anyone have any updated info (don't have to give names etc..) but would be nice to at least know we are doing something

I've heard the same stuff (I'm not well connected, just a lifetime of following league). The same thing used to happen in older times with other Sydney clubs, but Roosters have it going now with a wealth of well-connected, business and finance-oriented supporters.

So you get your salary, which is pretty decent, and then everything else is taken care of, wink wink. Your salary goes a long way when you have zero cost of living expenses!

@hsvjones There is the June 30 deadline for signing new players. So hopefully Wests Tigers are currently working on that. However I have the following queries;

Is Musgrave till signed on our books?

What is the minimum number of CAP players are we allowed to have signed on June 30?

How many CAP players do we currently have signed?

Its interesting - he paid just on $2.2 mil last June but decided to rent it out for $1350 per week rather than live in it. Strange decision as he currently rents in Bondi. I'm sure Nick would have a few property manager friends that would have found Angus a really cheap and I mean really really cheap rental in Bondi.

I remember a story last year about how the Rorters have procured about 500mill worth of property to ensure the survival of the club. Looks like Crichton got one of them. :rolling_on_the_floor_laughing: :rolling_on_the_floor_laughing: :rolling_on_the_floor_laughing:

If you take the NRLs word for it that their books are above board and the TPAs are only 200k. Then the Roosters are signing players below market value which flies in the face of the concept of nominal value that gets thrown around from time to time. Wish my boss would lose at golf as consistently as Uncle Nick
