Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

@Cultured_Bogan
Apparently Jordan Ropana knocked back $500K from the Raiders to test the open market with no takers Raiders cash allocated elsewhere will have to take a pay cut to stay would he be worth an offer from Wests Tigers

@Elderslie_Tiger I think Rapana is a fantastic player and a big upgrade on what we have now. But he'll be 30 next month. Pretty risky signing but I suppose it comes down to price and length of contract.

If we can offload Jennings or Nof without paying anything i'd take Rapana at 450k for 2 years. Pretty sure he'd want a 3-4 year deal though. 2 years max for those over 30

Firstly i dont think we could offload either without carrying some freight, and secondly panic buying guys like Rapana who's best days are behind them got us into this mess in the first place.

We need to see what new signings our scouts and recruitment officer come up with out of the ASSRL championships. Rapana tuned down $500.000 from the Raiders a couple of months back which he probably regrets. Better value with top juniors talent.

Is Capewell being chased as a forward or winger? Apparently his QLD squad selection was as a Edrick Lee replacement. I would as be chasing Nikora despite missing that tackle on Foran yesterday. With their big guns back the squeeze is on at the Sharks for game time.

Was mentioned last night that Dugan was whinging about playing wing, that is why they moved Xerri on sunday, if Johnny Cronk has the balls he will move Xerri back to centre and Dugan to wing. Then if Dugan whinges again like Gagai did, tell him to go play centre elsewhere like Wayne told Gagai, Cronulla have already lost Flanagan due to buying too many players, Dugan might be forced out because I can't see them letting Xerri go.
Dugan has 2 more years after this year on good money left on his contract, there maybe some good pick ups out of the shire when the dust settles.

I just read that Tommy turbo and his brothers patience are wearing thin with manly and bulldogs are trying to lure both of them to the club

I think we should come in with a deal as well

They would vastly improve our squad

Fair dinkum where are the Bulldogs getting all this money from? Suddenly they are the Roosters of Western Sydney. Their salary cap problems lasted all of 1 week!

Meanwhile back at Concord ranch.....crickets.....

David Klemmer is gone.
Greg Eastwood and his horribly back-ended contract are gone.
Josh Morris and his big contract are gone.
Brett Morris and his big contract are gone.
Aaron Woods and his big contract are gone.
James Graham and his big contract are gone.
Moses Mbye and his big contract are gone.

It's really not that surprising that they have cap space when you stop and think about it...

lol @happy_tiger has more hope of flying backwards naked to the moon than the Trbojevic brothers going to the Dogs...

People really need to stop reading the Lurker..

The rumour of Ese'ese coming here minus 48hrs ago was lifted straight from this forum....

@Spud_Murphy They are Manly locals and their younger brother has signed for a couple of years. Besides, Des will be influencing them about politics at Belmore

And they're paying between 1-2 million for those players to be at other clubs. just because they're gone doesn't mean they have lots of cash.

Only Klemmer and Woods were contracted to the Dogs beyond 2019 are they paying 1 to 2 million for them in 2020 to play elsewhere..jebus I thought we were dumb...

Klemmer was released at his request to take up a bigger deal - zero freight.
J Moz contract expired 2018.
B Moz contract expired 2018.
Eastwood contract expired 2018.
Graham’s contract expired 2019.

Mbye they’ll be paying something for, but he’s not on peanuts with us. Woods they’ll be in the hole a bit for, but I’d be surprised if it’s much more than $500k total for both from next season onwards. $1-$2 million seems way off the mark given those two don’t even command total salaries of $2 million...

Sharks signed second row forward Kayleb Milne from the Storm, a Junior Kiwi forward at 193cm and 103kg prior to 30 June. The Sharks have a great scouting system.

Similar discussion on Sharks forum about overs for Moylan, Dugan and Townshend and how that will hold them back from purchases.

Also currently running last, 12th last year - not much of a roster at the moment.

The Sharks wouldn't pay big bucks for Woods and the Dogs were desperate, the Dogs are paying $500k of his $800,000 contract till the end of 2021, they are paying $300,000 for Mbye for 2019 and 2020

And correct Klemmer did ask for a release so they are paying zero for him but they took on Napa to replace him at a bit over $600,000, add DWZ who is on $200,000 for this year and $500,000 next year, so that's a tad over $1.9 mil of their 2020 cap there on just 2 players in their roster.

On top of that they only have 6 players off contract in 2019, Brown, Fualalo, Kalache, Lichaa, Olive and Roumanos and it is likely only Lichaa is on decent coin amongst that lot.
