As has been said before, those stats are largely useless.

How Nofoaluma is the 2nd fastest player in the NRL is beyond belief...

It explains how he breaks as many tackles, maybe he hits the line fast and people can’t adjust quick enough

Reading through the eels forum on LU. Poster believes we signed Salesi Fainga'a. Has played 3 tests for Fiji. CC bio: https://www.nswrl.com.au/players/nsw-cup/wentworthville-magpies/salesi-faingaa/

a sharks mate of mind , reckons that capewell wants to sign for a club that can give him more game time. would be a good buy at a good price.

@Tigerboy we’ve inquired about him two times already, and he’s apparently rejected Both times, so I don’t know.

The fact he mentions the Magpies, and is a Magpies diehard suggests it's something to do with local juniors and academies i'd guess.

Another club setting up an academy in the region?

Whens he sposed to be breaking this scoop... Do we know?

Can't say much at the moment but Wests Tigers/Magpies are about to get bent over big time. Story to follow.

Hmmm, fairly sure he is the Macarthur area reporter who broke the Matterson story? Sounds bad.

One of the first from memory. Wording of the tweet doesn't sound good. Guess we'll know soon enough.
Read through the replies and he's ruled out issue with CSS and being punted/relocated.

He never ruled out being relocated ( even though that is highly unlikely). He ruled out anything to do with Campbelltown or any NRL player. Its interesting that he has lumbered WT and the magpies together so i'm guessing its something revolving around that association. The common denominator in WT and the Magpies is Wests Ashfield. Maybe Wests Ashfield might be dumping Wests Magpies in 2021 to accommodate Fiji as a feeder club. Maybe Wests Ashfield are considering selling the licence. Wait and see - the guy is a Campbelltown tragic so i'm guessing if there is anything it will impact the Magpies more so than WT.

Maybe over 2.5 metres. No way he is that quick over 100

Agreed. Not sure how reliable this data is. I don't think anyone once this year stopped and thought "look at the wheels on Nofo", yet every time most of the guys on that list get the ball you stop and think.

How is Xerri not on that list as well?

Hahaha, fair enough, I think he wouldn’t quite fit the culture that we’re trying to build in that he’s only as good as the team around him - not an overrated player - with no xfactor or ability to change the game. I mean, we do already have MCK who misses less tackles!

I believe the list is entirely based on top speed achieved, so you only need to max out once to be regarded as Top 10 fastest, no matter your actual holding power over any distance or speed off the mark.

If I'm not mistaken, Nofo clocked that top speed recovering a kick in the Souths game at Bankwest (may have been Roosters, but defn at Bankwest). They kicked to the SW corner from deep and he chased across-field to get to the kick first. He actually got there surprisingly quickly, because I'm so used to seeing him jink and look for contact.

Wests Tigers on the brink of losing Campbelltown’s biggest local club and almost 500 juniors to rival district

BY CURTIS WOODWARD

The Macarthur region’s largest club, East Campbelltown Eagles, are on the verge of taking the incredible step of walking away from their relationship with Wests Tigers and the Western Suburbs local district and start sending their best young talent to the powerful Mounties organisation.

Mounties is the feeder club to the Canberra Raiders.

Not since 1983 have Campbelltown juniors been aligned with anyone else except for Western Suburbs or Wests Tigers.

East Campbelltown’s Sydney Shield side has appeared in back-to-back grand finals and won the premiership in 2018.

But the partnership between East Campbelltown and the Magpies fractured again recently when it was announced Wests Ashfield (owners of Wests Tigers and the Magpies) would be pulling their funding of the Ron Massey Cup Magpies team for 2020 thus cutting off a pathway for Easts players to rise through the local ranks, into Sydney Shield and higher honours.

Wests Ashfield confirmed their plans to invest in the Balmain Tigers juniors after taking full ownership of the joint venture. They will continue to provide funding for Wests Magpies SG Ball, Harold Matthews and development teams in the Southwest.

Wests’ statement in early October argued it would now be easier for diehard Magpies fans, many of which don’t live or have any affiliation with the Macarthur region or the junior competition, to support the NSW Cup side.

“With this change, comes an opportunity in 2020 for Western Suburbs Magpies members and supporters to get out to ONE Western Suburbs Magpies match each week rather than having to spread support and promotion over various venues and conflicting schedules,” it reads.

“We hope to see this support match what fellow foundation club Newtown Jets (who focus solely on State Cup participation) have today. Western Suburbs Magpies is intent on celebrating our heritage with the production of further Retro Merchandise, Jersey Re-makes, planning for more events at Lidcombe Oval and planting the seeds for a return to Pratten Park.”

Nowhere in the statement did it mention the effect this change will have on the ever-eroding situation for junior clubs in Campbelltown, Liverpool, Camden, Wollondilly or the Southern Highlands.

East Campbelltown Eagles Facebook page
Campbelltown’s biggest club defecting to a rival district should enrage local rugby league fans with many of them believing they have been left behind by not only Wests Tigers but the Magpies too.

The81stminute.com understands East Campbelltown has met with Mounties officials and discussions were in advanced stages.

East Campbelltown boasts 385 junior players and 105 seniors.
