Medical retirement should only be allowed when the insurer agrees to pay out the contract. NRL will get themselves in a pickle b/c they are not independent. I'm still not sure how parra is allowed to write off watmough's contract against the salary cap when the insurer failed to pay.

This Sam Burgess thing stinks....sounds like souths have already been given a wink....will sign Fafita with Sam's money, sam will still get paid in retirement. The Inlgis thing was a snow job, yet we get fined for doing the same thing. We got to jump thru hoops to get matalino off the books. The whole thing is on the nose.

I mean has the nrl got its own doctors or do they just swallow what the clubs tell them....the opinion of club doctor or medical specialist that the club is paying for should not be relied on

I hope we stay disciplined. The likes of Lomax, Tetevano, Capewell, Brimson won’t break the bank but will drastically improve the team. I don’t think we can spend big on 2 players.

100%. Particularly as any big name player we have to pay an extra 20-40% as it is.

The only way for us to work is to get young players with potential or developing players as you mentioned. Not to mention reserve grade guys like Britain, Katoa etc who won't break the bank, but would walk into out first grade side.

I dont like the talk of JWH.

Roosters are the smartest team in the NRL. They spend their money wisely and they dont pay over for old players.

Hargraves's best years are behind him. He is being moved on by a club that doesnt lose good players they want.

Just more of the same if we end up signing him. Over paid and best years behind him.

Hardly a way to build a future.

Anyhow there is so much crap out there with the signing deadline approaching. i think ill just wait to see who we actually sign.

I can cop him on two years. We certainly aren't going to get him in his prime but I guess the question we need to ask is a JWH who is still playing well better than investing elsewhere. He comes here for a couple of years and makes us competitive and we make the finals all of a sudden you start looking like a viable destination to other talented players. They will invariably go where the money is but if you're talking the difference of $20-30K to play at a struggling club versus a club that is a bona fide premiership threat, most players will take the paycut to get the glory.
