Who is better value ?

Well considering AD can play 5/8 And the club will
be needing one soon and also can play fullback .. I would say Ad over a winger even though a good one !

The highest paid tiger on the books for 2020 is Josh Reynolds he currently takes up roughly 7% of the cap. That is horrendous. Luckily for tigers they have brooks on a lower end contract for halves in NRL (500k) which equals about 4.5% and Benji which is about 2.5% generally MOST nrl clubs would have close to 25% of the cap Tied up in the “spine” even with a bad contract
On their hands with a player who probably won’t play a game this year tigers spine only soak up 18% of the cap. So adding douehi who could conceivably play 2 positions in the spine for 500k taking up about another 4.5% of the cap, isn’t terrible given the situation.

If people honestly think that Addo-Carr is a chance to come to the tigers, they haven’t been paying attention this entire offseason. The tigers recruitment staff have proven they’re unable to attract big name players with options. Doueihi on the other hand wants to be here and I think it’s crazy they are screwing this opportunity up. What is the point of having cap space if we miss the 8 again

They're doing the complete opposite. The opportunity isn't Doueihi, the opportunity is having cap space. By throwing 600K at Doueihi, an unproven fullback who has only played 30 odd games is what will screw the opportunity.

I'm glad they're not letting the money in the cap burn a hole in their pocket. Patience!

Madge talking about recruitment approach
“We need to be clear about not making the same mistakes this club’s made in the past,” Maguire said.

“We’re in the process of making major changes but we need to be smart about how we make those changes.

“The position our salary cap is in at the moment, we need to get players’ values spot on.

“We want to give players the best opportunity to build something here at Wests Tigers that hasn’t been here at the club for some time.

“We’ve got a great young squad, now we just need to be patient about making the right decisions around who we bring into the club next.

“We won’t be just spending money for the sake of spending it.

“I’d rather take my time and focus on building the club from the ground up. We’ll be diligent about making the right decisions.”

How could anybody be doubting him after reading that

Media trying to play us for the fools week used to be as player managers uses to as well

They are all now just clutching at straws trying to work out their next moves because we don't have in or leak like sieve anymore

Go tigers go Madge go Pascoe

Adam Douehi is worth no more than 400k, BJ 450k. You could justify 50k more at a stretch.
Not a chance you take either on back ended inflated contracts. If we are talking 600k + walk away now.

I like both but the club has to be sensible and not get desperate. It’s how we ended up with Reynolds, Mbye, Packer on big money.

450k for BJ? Lol. I mean yeah if you could. But you can’t. His metric value is closer to 700k. So yeah 450k won’t happen BUT how good is blind impressions of ones worth

On his day he is worth 700 k .....but how many 700 k days does he have in a season 4-5 maybe at best

You weigh up need v what else is available. To not go after the best available centre when your need for centre is high and you have cap space AND you will get
Him on a discount for 2020 would be irresponsible

And it won't matter if we have Meninga and Kenny in the centres if we don't sign a 1 and 9

But don't let that get in the way

450 for BJ?

Two time center of the year.

X-Factor in a team for several years.

Good luck shopping for 450.

For context, Nofa gets close to that...

BJ or Nofa career wise is not even remotely close.

I reckon. This man is too far disattached

Geez guys, calm down.
I am sure Madge knows the inadequacies in the roster. Human nature just wants us to fill the last 3 positions yesterday. Some patience is needed by us fans. Madgey boy gets paid a lot of money to worry about recruitment decisions.
Let him do it.

Really?

Hoffman has played very limited games the past three years...many of them limited minutes / many of them he broke down in.

I realise our state cup backline is terrible, but could we not try and recruit a youngster who:
**A Might play most weeks
B Possibly develop and become an NRL player one day**

Surely we want a state cup team where players down there are applying pressure and / or developing?

Hoffman will be 32 mid season.

All good!!

Perhaps a tiny overreaction.

When’s Round 1?

Don't worry I almost spat out my diet coke when i read it. I thought it was top 30 too.

Even though it’s not top 30, what’s the point of this signing? Are we still seen as the retirement village for all the has beens?

Honest to God Madge and Pascoe must really hate us! They know that we’re absolutely hanging out for a decent signing, any decent signing... so they feed us this crap! Bloody sadists!

Because if you're going to blood a bunch of kids in reggies like I imagine we will this year with the likes of Madden and Cini then it helps for them to have some seasoned veterans to learn off.
