Mbye wouldn't be anywhere near my backline avo...but I'm not selecting the team

Whilst I am a fan of Mbye I believe momo is best suited to centre with the new rule change as he is pretty tall. Where as Mbye is only 180cm. I’m still not sure if Mbye is a 9 tho as I believe his best skill is his second receiver passing game, but unfortunately benji is at 6 and seems to have lost his pace through injuries which means FB is a no go.


I don’t think Mbye is a 9 either. He has sealed his own fate imo. He has been moved around a lot, but hasn’t really excelled in any position as you would expect from a $950k player. And this is why he will be a gap filler player. I would probably choose Moma at 6 ahead of Mbye.

I’d argue 9 is Mbye’s best position. He’s not a fullback or a 6. He played hooker in a grand final for the Bulldogs.


He’s a dreadful 9! Better at centre then anywhere else.

I'd prefer 4 forwards with MCK on there as the utility / forward.

I don’t think Mbye is a 9 either. He has sealed his own fate imo. He has been moved around a lot, but hasn’t really excelled in any position as you would expect from a $950k player. And this is why he will be a gap filler player. I would probably choose Moma at 6 ahead of Mbye.

I wouldn't choose Momo over Mbye in any position, they are completely different classes of player. Imo Momo is a fringe first grader. He tries his best and seems to be a solid kid but he is no superstar. Don't get the love.

I wouldn't choose Momo over Mbye in any position either Avo.

BUT, I sure as hell would pick him in the centre over Mbye.

On first glance he looks like a good state cup anything. Time will tell if he can crack 1st grade. I mean to me his stature, body shape, style of play, surname, everything, looks more like a 9 than anything else. Will not be surprised to see his name in the discussion for the stop gap measures at 9 for first grade

Is it such a bad thing that it's not going ahead, grub mbye, and Walters can all cover the hooker position...I don't feel we can afford to lose a back....just my thoughts

We're thin in the three quarter line if Momo goes and we have an injury.

I think it's a bad thing because none of those guys you mentioned are hookers. Mbye is more valuable to us in the centres, Walters is a complete unknown over 80 minutes and Reynolds cannot play the position.

But hasn't the Storm kid only played one or two NRL games?

Yes but he's always been a hooker and played all Q Cup games in that position. Walters barely ever played hooker in Q Cup so he'd be making a step up into NRL into a position he's only had limited exposure to.
