As I understand it Skando and Fitzy won't be returning next season. I take my hat off to both of these men who have served our club loyally for a long period of time and represent 2 more of our 2005 premiership team gone from the TIgers.
The 2005 premiership was a fantastic reward for guys like Skandalis and Mark O'Neill who spent years doing their best for some pretty ordinary teams both pre and post merger. They were happy just to lace on a boot for the Wests Tigers and then to play a finals game was a dream come true. I'm sure they take great pride in sitting back knowing they are such an important part of Wests Tiger's history.
Fitzy is obviously not everyone's favourite player and I hope people can stop bagging the bloke in retirement for long enough to give him some credit for what he did. When Fitzy started playing, he was thrust into 5/8 early on because we had nobody else to do the job. It's sometimes easy to forget just how tough it was back around 2001-2003 when avoiding the wooden spoon was a reasonable year. In his prime Daniel was a very good centre/winger and scored some very important tries for us. Above all he was a great servant to the club going to England when salary cap pressures forced him out. You can question his ability especially circa 2010 but I doubt you could question his love for the Tigers.
Hopefully first home game we'll get a chance to farewell them in a manner they deserve. :supporter:
