i thought JT was a fool but M/S GO takes the cake she is either on drugs or is a lair. how the hell can this club climb of the bottom of the heap this and next year without being able to buy players with out experience. talk about keep the fans in the dark and feeding us bull s***, it just seems to flow from there mouths.

We ran 13th (out of 15) in 2003.

fair point, it's feasible as we've done it in the past, but were we in a mess cap wise then?

We need another Marshall to drop into our laps, and before the chants of we've got one start from the usual crew, just take a breath and get real.

We don't have one but we HAD one.
Te'Maire Martin.

I don't know if anyone noticed , but the $ figure mentioned aren't by our chairperson

So they are basically a figment of the journalist imagination

They might be on that figure if they trigger all of their bonusus which would be finals footy , rep footy etc

So it would be win win if they were earning 600 k in 2017

No, but we had completely mismanaged the $5m grant from the NRL forcing us to field a team well below the salary cap through 2004 & 2005\. We got Scott Prince dirt cheap (returning from broken legs) and we had a good bunch of juniors after Wests won the SG Ball in 2002 and of course Benji arrived.

All the pieces are there at the moment, just need to offload some more players, lock down Tedesco and it will all come under control.

Tedesco is our 2015-2017 Benji. He can win us a comp.

Rumour has it we were 350 k under the cap in 2005

1.2 million dollars combined for the two halves in 2017…..WTF is happening in this asylum.
Any sanity that was in this board has disappeared for sure. That proves that the NRL is out to break us, what the hell is Teddy worth in his next contract then,
Are they lunatics.
Go should go herself and take the rest of these clueless morons with her
Why the hell would you give two unproved kids an option in their favour of that amount.
No wonder they're not hungry. They don't have to improve at all to hit the money pot
What fools are running this club

To be fare, those contracts were not the doing of this current Board. It would appear the get out clause in Brook's and Moses' contracts were a last desperate measure to get them to sign - along with a remuneration way above their current playing level. Other clubs targeted these 2 and were prepared to pay overs for them - we either matched those offers or they were gone. I really don't see how you can blame Go and the current Board for this mess.

If they have been there for all this time, and not been able to find this out a lot earlier( as there should have been a paper trail( even their contracts) then what have they been doing since they arrived, I would think that the first thing done would be to get across what we were paying out to whom.
If there's no paper trail them someone has a lot of explaining to do. And you would think that there could be legal ramifications.
If your right and we ,matched another club, then we are fools. To tie up this sort of money on unknown quantities is ridiculous for a club that is always crying poor mouth

I'm not saying that they shouldn't have been aware of the those contracts - and maybe they were. What I'm disagreeing with you about is the implication I took from your opening statement that Go and the Board are somehow responsible for a contract giving 2 kids 1.2 million in 2017 and giving them an option in their favour. Read your opening comments again and tell me that's not the intent of your post.

How do we get a copy of the strategic plan that the article is referring to?

I'd like to read it.

And, given that Ms Go and the club have written-off 2016 as another year of no-finals footy, I wonder if the plan includes discounts for long-term members, just to make sure we're still around when nirvana appears in 2017?

Do we know for a fact that those figures $600K are correct? Media used to bang on about Blair being on $500K all the time, there was much argument as to whether that was actually true.

That is the first question. If it is it is absolutely crazy. I also think its pretty obvious that Ms Go has no idea.

Tedesco needs some support. I rate Brooks and Moses as kids that might kick on. If they don't they have to go. Paying them money as if they were seasoned quality first graders is crazy.

As for the $600k mentioned in the article, I think happy is right in that'd include bonuses etc (the NRL salary cap is ridiculously complicated - there's no such thing as a simple wage), but I'd be surprised if the figure was wrong. Given that Go was interviewed for the piece, fair chance she'd have ok'd those numbers off the record.

…reminds me of when Norths bought out Roy Francis from the UK to coach,he was on huge money(at the time) and promised a Premiership within 3 years, its easy to talk & set goals, achieving them is the hard part.
MPO is we need about 7 or 8 positions filled(now!) with genuine first graders, that will take time & money,i can't see it happening for a decade but i hope i'm wrong.

"That's why [coach] Jason [Taylor] is committed to sticking with the team he's got because, if not, we won't have that winning team in three years, which is when we expect to have it.

Yes that was the original intent, and I'd take your word on correcting that.
Although half of the current Board WAS in control at the time. the Wests half. And also weren't the Balmain side still permitted to be at meetings , but can't vote??
So almost half of the current board were involved , and I stated that it shouldn't have taken the new members all this time to have updated themselves on who gets what, or don't they talk to the other members?
Marina's ideas that even though we are a moving train wreck, our three year guesses as to where we will be, still apply.
So despite being much worse than they thought, and now being almost down to a two year guess, with the same result, it's hard to believe anything that they say.

One minute we can't buy anyone till 2016\. Then 2017.Then not until 2018
Marina's announcements are filled with the same amounts of spin that Taylor's are.
And she seems that she's trying to convince herself more than us.
they are looking as much out of their depth as our Coach is

Is that three years from when they first said it,
Or three years from now, hard to tell with Marina
Spose it depends which way the winds blowing
Seems like all we have to do is "expect" to win and it'll all be ok

Problem is that if they don't,( and despite their supporters blind faith that they will,
It's impossible to make claims like that purely going on what's on show now. )
No one else will want to shell out the money for them.
So we won't have any choices
I hope we haven't painted ourselves into a corner with them
I don't blame them for this situation, once again it this clubs ineptitude

Sounds like a political party (choose your flavour) promising everything will be ok in ten years time - knowing so much can happen in between they can lay the blame on someone else when it doesn't pan out.
Fix it now Marina or…...Go.

Very hard to imagine after the last month of football how we are going to lift from last to top four in two years without being able to hit the player market with a wheelbarrow full of money.

Go has to be extremely optimistic, she has a message to sell and at present it is like selling seats on Malaysian Airlines, its a very tuff gig.

One thing is for certain, with our current roster she is dreaming if she think we will be any where near the top four in two years

No point in pedalling B/S if the audience knows itsB/S

More pain on the way with perhaps Lawrence and others to leave. They would have to be players on large contracts which will make a difference to our bottom line. You would think Woods, Tedesco, Moses, Simona and Brooks would not be among prospective departures? Who is left?

i think you are safe in saying that the halves won't be in a hurry to go anywhere until after 2017 finishes
They have a pot of gold just waiting for them , nomatter how they play.
Not a bad lurk, gauranteed spot, no reserve grade, just turn up
Unfortunately not good for the club, and not good for a young player who doesn't need to have the hunger needed to go higher,
No need to push themselves to improve on the one percenters that make the difference between the average, and the top players

I may be wrong, but both Brooks and especially Moses strike me as kids who want to improve. I can't see them sitting back and just holding their hands out collecting the dollars. Like most NRL players, they want to play at the highest level and the only way that will happen is by doing the 'extras' required.
I just hope they have the talent to get them there.

Its a bit like the famous statement ' no child will live in poverty' all talk and no substance, just like Go's statement.

I'm really glad somebody said something like this. I don't think you can question Moses/Brooks attitude or motivation to want to improve. I thought they had a real dig on Fri night, they keep throwing themselves into their defence, they linked up nicely a few times, & if a couple of passes had of stuck it would've beena closer game.

Yes we lack some polish & confidence but I still think we're building the nucleus for a good team. We have a good "spine" who are gaining valuable experience. Just need to make the right decisions when we do go to the player market & ensure we keep the right people (ie. Nofo, Ava & now I think Lawrence also) from our current roster.
