The drama over Ivan Cleary’s future at Wests Tigers continues to bubble along. I’m hearing that the Tigers want to extend Cleary’s contract beyond the end of next season - and have told him that if doesn’t agree, he can look elsewhere for a job in 2019\. It’s a tense standoff - the Tigers know Cleary wants out to coach son Nathan at Penrith the first chance he gets. So they are trying to force his hand while he is still a contracted employee, offering him an extension for another two years. But the club knows Cleary is unlikely to accept the deal, and that leaves the Tigers with a dilemma. If Cleary does walk, they are looking at either ex-Souths coach Michael Maguire or former Manly coach Geoff Toovey to fill the role.

I agree with you in that i would rather the club pay 600-750k for Luke Brooks than a million for Cleary. As shown this year Brooks is a very capable defender
