Arnold's appointment was shambolic from the get go. When Postecoglou resigned we had a World Cup in 8 months and an Asian Cup in 14\. The FFA go and appoint Arnold for the Asian Cup but not the World Cup. If he's the best man for the Asian Cup, then why not the World Cup? Instead we stuffed around with an international coach who did not know the players or the systems and ultimately under performed at both tournaments.

I think whoever coaches the side needs to encourage every player in the mix to find their level. We see players like Leckie, Mooy & Ryan go abroad and take their games to the next level, but too many are happy to take the easy money in a weaker league or come back to the A-League and guarantee themselves game time rather than working for it.

I see it rather differently M_M but I do agree in some cases

Some players aren't getting enough game time in the stronger leagues / teams they have signed for

Then the question becomes is game time important or the level of football and less game time important ??

World Cup yes …..Asian Cup confidence going in is far more important imo

Must say I always thought getting back to a coach who did not experience much success at international level once before, may have been a mistake.

I like Arnold but gee ….. we should have done better with this opportunity and (right now) the result for football in this country needs a successful Socceroos team.... who can score goals when opportunities present themselves.

I know we were under strength but boy Arnie got out-coached on this one. And as far as our attack .... they need to learn how to shoot straight.

Said it from the start, as an avid Sydney FC fan I am grateful to Arnie for his efforts with us and the silverware it delivered, but unless he was going find a few Eastern European forwards and fast track their Australian citizenship he was never going to deliver anything at an international level. Doesn't help having a couple of decent players out either.
