I heard it about the same time Tedesco originally signed with Canberra from my Tedesco source

Heard any more since?
Do you think he is staying or going?

Well that was the reason I hadn't posted anything about it Sabre

I put it out there with a few I know who have their ears to the ground but didn't hear anything else so I left it

Know its out there , I'm just confirming I heard it also

**Career suicide, he will get offered big $$**

Would be sad if we lost him as he is a great player, can't see him going though…

For a player like Tedesco yes, for a guy like Thompson no. He's not a superstar, and he'll always be competing for a spot here. If he gets offered good money, which is likely cos they haven't signed anyone and will be desperate to pick up someone, it would be a good move for him imo. Would rather him stay put though.

Given our salary cap challenges and the number of backrowers already on contract for next year - Blair, Sue ,Sironen, Gavet, Fulton, Santi , Lovett just off the top of my head I have been thinking he will probably go elsewhere. He is in the form of his career and his best chance to make some real money I would wish him the best of luck. I really hope he stays as he has been our best backrower this year but it wouldn't be a surprise

I was hoping you would start a thread about it

Well said. Thompson will never be one of those players that lead a team to glory, rather a good solid player who will put in every game and do his job. Those players are a dime a dozen and he will need to go wherever the cash is in order to maximise his career earnings.

I also agree that I'd rather him stay on as well. Has really kicked on this year, but the cynical part of me says that's not surprising given he's playing for a contract.

I reckon the Raiders have just sent out an open offer to every off contract player in the NRL. Bring us your current contract and we'll beat it by 50%. Bodene would have have had an offer from the raiders, just like every other first grader under 30.

And they couldn't even get Michael Ennis.

When the Raiders offered Teddy 600g a season and we offered 500g (not the real figures) it was not going to kill the bank to knock back their offer but say in Thompson case he is probably on 150g max and may be offered 250 a season by the Raiders, than that is a big difference and he would be mad to say no

He's struck up a bromance with Blair and is in career-best form at the Tigers. At age 25, he'd be silly not to stick around here for another 2 year deal. If he continues his form his next pay packet could be much fatter, either from us or another club.

With Fulton's career up in the air, and Paterson not setting the world on fire, we could be down two backrowers for next season. I would like to keep him, at the right price of course.

I don't agree with that tbh. Before anything, you need a coach who shows belief in you and get the best out of you. Thompson has hit career best form with potter and potter has shown he believes in him as a footballer.

From an unbiased POV, it's in bodenes best interest to stay with potter IMO.

I guess the question for him comes down to he is 26 in the form of his career and he will probably be signing his biggest contract as it will likely take him to 28-29\. He really should without a shadow of a doubt take the money if its on offer.

Fulton's decision probably won't happen till after Thompson makes his which is unfortunate but if Fulton recovers then he is behind fulton and Siro in probably our weakest position all be it with some youngsters in Lovett , Akoula and Santi coming through and good under 20s. I hope Bodene stays but it was probably more likey if Tedesco left

We have Moses, Brooks, Tedesco, Nofoaluma, Woods all on more next year then this year - we were always going to need to let a few go - BMM , Koroibete, Anasta. We will probably loose 2 at least from Patterson, Thompson, Ava, Akoula and I see it being Ava and Thompson with Paterson's injury meaning he will be cheaper and will stay on. If Liam has to retire it will free up a little money but not heaps and it may be too late by then.

For a player like him, if he's offered good money, take it and run like a mofo.

not sure what you mean by a player like him..

this will not be his last contract- he will still sign a few more contracts before that. go for the money later in your career, now is not the time at all.

While this may have no legs whatsover…he is still unsigned and to be honest has no real loyalty to the club. If he is offered the $$ elsewhere I'd bet that he would take it.

Would be a shame as he has hit some great form. Not amazing, marquee form but he's reliable in defence and will usually go the 80 minutes.

I'm concerned about our second row next year. Balir and Sue have 13 covered but in terms of 11,12....Bodene not yet re-signed, Patterson yet to show if he is quality or not, Fulton has concussion problems and Halutau is always injured.

That just leaves Sironen who also injury prone and still developing. Hopefully Lovett can make the move up to FG soon but still, developing player.

backrow is the least of our worries imo

lawrence i believe will be in the backrow next year.

paterson and bodene still unsigned for next year though.

blair, sirro, sue, lawrence, lovett- i think we've got it covered.

I explained in my first post. He's not a superstar, not a player thats ever going to command big dollars. So when the money is on offer, take it and run.

I feel that if players are not signed by now, then they won't be. I base this on the type of language Potter used in the press Release about Koro. It sounds like our cap is pretty well maxed out. Bodene may have an offer, but if he chooses to shop himself around for more money then good luck to him.

I doubt Santi will be as good as Bodene, but he is likely much cheaper. If it is a commercial decision then so be it.

I hope he stays he is playing good solid footy each week , he is tough , and not scared to hit it up hard , Fulton who knows he may be done with the head knocks , and this club is going places why would you take a bit more cash and get whipped each week , Canberra won't come good until poison Stewart is gone
