South's massive pack

The souths pack have shown the devestating impact they can have on a game. Can the Tigers forwards match Burgess, Taylor, Crocker, Asotasi and Co? I just hope Ellis, Sauce, Gibbs and Fafita are up to it

They've also been exposed in the middle of the ruck and out wide.

Their pack is big, but Asotasi, Taylor don't play many minutes. Burgess is dangerous, but i think our forwards are more than capable of matching them. Their pack for mine is over-hyped

We'll kill souths this year….

Hope so Kaiser, but the performance against the dogs was devestating, Burgess, Taylor, Asotsi and stewart included. They fail with Sandow but otherwise have a strong team on paper.

Guys like Fulton and Gibbs would be hard pressed trying go Toe to Toe with this current Souths pack in a simple hit up contest like the Bulldogs tried to do last week. Souths pack is much bigger and stronger than ours… but not nearly as skillful or mobile.

The Roosters showed the way to do it in round 1... or better still think back to the Tigers v Broncos finals match in 05\. We were up against the likes of Brad Thorn, Shane Webke, Petro, Tonie Carroll... all great players. I can remember watching with joy as clever dummy half runs from our outside backs wore them right out, and then guys like Ben Galea, a very slim Liam Fulton and Todd Payten would create total havoc around the edges of the ruck... the Broncos just couldn't keep up.

Souths pack looks very good went Isaac Luke is on song. otherwise they look like pedestrian rubbish lumbering back and forth

Souths are overhyped - the Dogs are a very average team with a nuffy pack, Hannant aside.

Agree on both counts.

Their whole pack is rubbish aside from Hannant and Stagg.

Ennis with his two hit ups per game, and add Yilleen Gordon,Chris Armit,Gary Warburton.

Hilariously bad.

And on Souths.

They have the most overrrated props in the game.

They are dead set plodders.

Asotasi and Stuart…...nothing to fear there.

Their danger is with Issac Luke and Burgess running off him.

I disagree on Sutton - however I think he's more of a lock than five-eighth. Talented player though.

Souffs would be right up there with better halves. Asotasi is still coming back from injury, Stuart is solid without being anything special. I also rate Ben Lowe, who hits like a truck in defence.

But when your #7 is Chris Sandow, you aren't going to be there at the business end.

souths pack is big. no denying that.
they are not agile like wests-tigers.
at this stage of season do not appear to have end of match fitness wests-tigers have.
they are human, make errors and feel pain.
when wests-tigers play them it will be a good indication of the muscle up ability wests-tigers have in 2010\. 😛ray:
dominate them and other forward packs will be very wary of wests-tigers.

Size isn't the be all and end all. Souths size is also their weakness in that they are not particularly mobile and a quicker pack could trouble them around the ruck if they can control the tempo. Burgess is looking good and Isaac Luke is in good form, Asotasi hasn't reached the heights he climbed at the Bulldogs and Stuart is solid. They are not the most skillful of sides IMO. The Tigers speed and skill will nulligy their size, just as it did against the Raidersand Manly.

Souths were impressive against Dogs who wanted to arm wrestle them with a popgun pack
We need to match the intial onsaught for the first 15-20 mins with size, then bring on the Fultons & Flanagans as they tire,& the opportuinties will come .
As an aside Asotasi, who once claimed to be worlds best prop, has done nothing for two seasons

So in this day in age is size and 'big impact' a prerequisite to make the 8? Burgess and Taylor ran over us all night. We got rolled by a much bigger team with a little spark in Isaac Luke. Our nimble forwards looked like kids. Our agile backs did nothing.

Just so very very wrong on both counts
