Specific roles in State Cup that can actually benefit the NRL side...

Apologies for the second thread...but I feel like this has been an issue for a while.

We have had a number of players the past few years look 'too good' for the state cup...but too slow / short of quality for the NRL.

Today...one of my personal favs joined that list forever in Seyfarth. He looks immense in state cup, but every time he comes up he looks well short of NRL level.

We probably need to invest in impact players, rather than state cup toilers.

Seyfarth is a better state cup player than Franklin Pele...but Pele can come off the bench for 15 mins both halves and bend the line for you.

We need to look at recruiting impact at that level and building up their specific role they can be used for in firsts.

We do not have a single forward in state cup who can give us that "bend the line off the bench in firsts role" most clubs have.

Souths Havili today the perfect example. He has played a lot of state cup over the years, but can come in and give a team 150 plus when given that 'bend the line' role (175 today)

We have not had that player since James Gavet.

Seyfarth is clearly not first grade standard.
Woeful today.

Needs to stay in cup - learn and develope.

We've signed two of the best players in the comp but were still short, moving forward.

Nu Brown was good in game 1 but wasn't really needed tonight and displayed nothing.

Sheens and co. Need to go to market and replace what we're losing and try and improve the roster.

Tom Eisenhuth is off contract and is solid.
Doorey and Topine from the dogs.
Tapine and Young from the Raiders, currently contracted but worth asking the question.

That addresses the forwards.

The list of those types of guys is as long as your arm Pearl....
Are you saying you want impact players Pearl? 😂😂

What are they?

Reckon the Tigers have had about 3 in 260 odd players....

Most our props are a similar shape and player type...
Twal, Seyfarth, Jimmy, Stefano - All a very similar style player...

That's what I like about Musgrove.... But we need one of them on the field and 2 of them on the Bench

I agree in part but your missing the point the OP is making.
The player we need is RFM bulldogs or Topley at manly or Afoa at the warriors or Kamikimika at the Storm or Francis Molo at the Dragons or Hunt at the Sharks, Suluka Fifita, at the Roosters, Sam Lisone at the Titans, Thomson at the Knights.
All of the above are not first choice forwards and would not be starting front rowers and will probably never be.
They are career bench players and are recruited as such.
Who is our impact prop?

Great post...and, yes, exactly what I meant.

We have not developed / recruited bench impact for absolutely ages.

For nights like last night, where momentum was clearly against us. For nights when the starters are flat...a couple of blokes who can bend the line on the bench.

Almost every club has a couple...we have none.

I have to go back to Taupau and Gavet off the bench - that's when we last had impact from the bench.

Sue and Ava were meat grinders in defence. I think we need a point scoring 2nd rower (done), and one Taupau style player in the rotation. I’d be starting Stefano and Tamou with Mus, Twal (to balance work rate) and recruiting one currently under-utilised prop at a top club, to come off the bench.

Could look at Paasi or Siro, both off contract
