Just watching pre show and have noticed the following:

No one has called them st george Illawarra!! But have said dragons, saints etc!!

Steve Price mentioned its great to be at kogarah and didn't say anything about wollongong!!

The jersey looks very similar to the original saint george dragons jersey and it doesn't have a "steeler" on the sleeve!!

Thank god we are not alone!!!!

i think everyone knows that wasn't a merger like WT though, it was basically an acquisition.

but yep, lot of complaining about very little and conveniently ignoring what the club DOES do, instead focusing on what they don't

I'm from Wollongong and I always had a soft spot for the Steelers. They were never my #1 team because I had followed Balmain for nearly 20 years by the time they joined the big league.

However, I knew a lot of Steeler supporters. Most of them didn't join as members of the new setup with St George. Most were furious with the Steelers CEO Millward as he sold them out. They have Illawarra stitched under the old St George emblem on the chest and sometimes wear Steelers socks.

They play a few games at WIN stadium but they prefer Kogarah.

I own the old Steelers cotton jersey that I wear sometimes. It turns heads in Rocky!

They are like us though, the kids in the Illawarra don't know anything else other than St George/Illawarra.

Give us another 20 years and the kids will be the same with Wests Tigers. That'll be all they know, too.

Yep, the Steelers were a great club. Always battled and it was a shame to see them owned. I used to love going to watch the Steelers V Manly. especially. Wollongonians hate silvertails probably even more-so that wests fans. It's a great shame that the Steelers/Illawarra don't get more recognition as they produce so many of the players. Hopefully WT can last another 20 years. Would love to see that. I think, we might struggle though.
