Starting Lineup (Barring Injuries)

Lawrence didn't have his best year, but it was still solid in that he never deserved to be dropped at any point. Certainly had a better year then Ayshford.

8 Woods
9 Farah

I wouldn't be using Pettybourne in the front row Watto. Too small IMO and we're better served with Galloway starting to get the team rolling forward with Woods. Fotuaika off the bench could be a good move, although Ava could also get a run and has a bit more size on him too. One of the big questions is who Potter decides to go with on the bench to play prop.

Disagree. There's no point sugar coating things. Rowdy was outplayed by practically all opposition centers last year. He along with Blake were liabilities most weeks and boardered on useless occasionally. They both need big years for mine. He is talked up for Origin every off season and has played 6 tests…about time he lives up to the hype

New to the Forum,, I signed in ages ago on a different email saying Willie Mason was going to canberra but got that completely wrong.

Anyway this will be my team come round 1.

1\. Tadesco or Moltzen
2\. Tuqiri
3\. Ayshford
4\. Lawrence (certainty)
5\. Koriobete
6\. Marshall (certainty)
7\. Miller or Moltzen
8\. Woods (certainty)
9\. Farah (certainty)
10\. Galloway (certainty)
11\. Pettybourne
12\. Fulton
13\. Anasta (Certainty)
14\. Blair
15\. Thompson
16.Bell
17\. Sironen

Very tough to pick but it will be there abouts and I have marked certaintys to who I think are already booked in. Sironen, Simona, Nofu, Gavet, are all in there as well. Go the Tigers!!!

So we drop him and replace him with?

There was little options, and he was the best centre at Tigers for 2012\. For that reason alone he never deserved to be dropped. Being outplayed for opposite centres can't change that.

LOL…people expect backs to kill it when the forwards have a soft underbelly and the halves are changed as often as the Aussie Test XI lineup

I agree a little but you can't blame the forwards for an individuals performance. Nor can you blame the halves change up. Lawrence's form last year wasn't good. He never looked like breaking the line on his own, but he was restricted quality ball to a degree because of the inconsistent combos.

Good Centres need space… Something Chris wasnt given with all the sideways movement last year. Obviously he was down in form/confidence, but he still needs the ball early to be a damaging runner.

Hopefully now Sheens has gone, we drop this rubbish of trying to be a mobile/side-to-side forward pack. Yes it worked in 2005, but a few smart coaches have watched that video a few times by now...

Potter knows its 'up the guts' as the quickest way to the Try Line.

FIRE UP WESTS TIGERS!!!

1.Moltzen (purely for his experience)
2.Koribete
3.Lawernce
4.Ayshford (1/2 dozen games to prove himself)
5.Utai
6.Marshall
7.Miller
8.Woods
9.Farah
10.Galloway
11.Blair ( no Ellis needs to pick up his defence)
12.Murdoch Masilla ( 2013 will be his year)
13.Anasta

14.Fulton
15.Petyborne
16.Bell
17.Buchanen/Gavet

To a degree I think that was in there mate. Don't blame everyone else for his inabilities. He was bad and everyone knows it. Even him. Will never play for the blues if his performance relies on how other players perform.

Monster bench to keep us rolling forward. With that getting done our backs will shine.

"keep us rolling forward'' infers the starting pack will begin the ''rolling forward''
Its very very very light
It dont matter how its shuffled or packaged, were light in the forwards

Agree. The only way to beef up the forward pack is to give some of the up and comers a go:

8\. Galloway
9\. Farah
10\. Woods
11\. Pettybourne
12\. BMM
13\. Anasta

14\. Blair
15\. Seumanufagai
16\. Groat
17\. Naiyaravaro

Plenty of size with that bench (and there are a couple of other options not named) but bugger all experience aside from Blair. That's the problem Potter faces with bench selections, experience-wise we lack big time once a starting forward pack has been named.

I think it shapes to be a year where a few young guys get a go off the bench, provided Potter wants to see improved go forward.

1\. Moltzen/Simona (Tedesco as soon as he's ready physically and mentally.)
2\. Tuqiri/Utai/Nofoaluma
3\. Ayshford/Simona
4\. Lawrence
5\. Koroibete
6\. Marshall
7\. Miller
8\. Woods
9\. Farah
10\. Galloway
11\. Blair
12\. Pettybourne
13\. Anasta

14\. Sironen (if shoulder is 100%, otherwise another prop.)
15\. Murdoch-Masila
16\. Bell/Fotuiaka
17\. Fulton

I realize its a pretty light bench in terms of props, but I can't drop Siro because of his performances last season and his potential - and that is the reason he is there.

I think Fulton would cover the utility back/forward role fine and bring in another prop but I think Siro needs to be there somewhere, and would probably bring him on at lock not five-eighth. I would also consider resting Robbie for 10-20 minutes a game and let Fulton cover hooker.

I'd have Bell go on replacing Keith or Woods after 20mins, push Blair or Pettybourne to prop and bring on Murdoch-Masila/Fulton for the final 20mins of each half to be used as a weapon as an edge back rower or lock.
This is how I would get around having less props on the bench.
