State of Rugby League 2021

I just looked at the NRL table and the difference in percieved quality between the clubs is staggering. This is supported by the odds on winning the competition (betfair) at the moment.Half of the clubs are paying odds of 50-1 or higher and this is after a mere 5 rounds or 20% of the season.I have never seen that before.
I believe that some of the imbalance has been brought on by the new rules.A faster game does not always make a better game and at the moment it is only providing an imbalanced competition.
Hopefully adjustments will be made

We have after 5 rounds four teams that could win the Gf, Storm,Penrith,Souths and Easts and than we have Parra and Canberra on the next tier down, followed by Titian’s and Dragons...the rest are all going to battle for the spoon with little hope of beating any teams in the groups above.

The rules don’t help the plodders but lack of quality cattle is the main factor, although you see what the Dragons have achieved gives you hope that things can be turned around

Maybe we just need to improve along with the other hack sides in the comp

No doubt we need to improve but the new rules and their interpretation are adding nothing positive to the game just lopsided matches

E Very supporter of teams that are going crap are trying to use 6 again rules as an excuse

At the end of the day the team hasn’t made the 8 for 8 years prior to these rule changes.
The team got blown out of the park from first couple of minutes ... absolutely nothing to do with new rules
They came out flat for such a big occasion .

This is the same excuse used on the kennel , tell me are they useless from new rules or useless recruitment ?

I would have no idea what is being said on other club forums but i can honestly say in all the many years i have followed football ( since unlimited tackle) i have never seen anything remotely resembling what is happening so early as it is this year.
League is a very resilliant sport and if this continues in the current vein it will be severely tested just as it was when Murdoch got his filthy paws on it

I think the game is great when you see two quality teams play.

I’m actually enjoying that I’m not watching the same match 8 times a week , every team was literally playing the same attack , now I’m seeing significant more heads up play each game
