Stefano Utoikamanu #241

Why can't the shoe be on the other foot
Stefano could claim its getting all to much for him at Parra he's feeling pressured to perform etc etc and request a release

The young fellow has a contract which I hope and expect he will honour. I am over these twats who think they can just get out of any contract whenever they want.
I hope Stefano has a great year and learns heaps about playing with the big boys. He will be a better player for us in 2021 for the experience.

That would be the weak way of doing things like at least one or two ex WTs' footballers.

Worst for Stefano is he is losing hundreds of thousands 2020 by not being allowed to take up a better option early. That's the real evilness if Parra, putting Tigers to the side for a moment, that they are short-changing the kid.

That's the way business seems to be done these days whatever it takes

Inducing someone to breach a contract is legally actionable and Parramatta would know that. I worked with contracts of all kinds for almost 50 years. Contracts work fine-provided the parties thereto are prepared to protect their rights, in court if necessary!

If it turns out Parra are actively seeking to get a player to break a legally binding contract, again, WT have to fight them in court and unfortunately this bloke might end up as the meat in the sandwich. Parra specifically have at least twice now targeted WT players under contract to us to renege on contract (Moses and Matterson). Also the talk of Nathan Brown being released to WT, if it was generated by Parra, is also an example of their contempt if us as a rival. We have to fight back to such attitudes and actions. Also, in know the argument about bankwest stadium and it's not parra home etc, but if that is how we are treated and considered I say they can go jump and we play the next 2 years between Leichhardt and Campbeltown and when Homebush stadium nears completion make the decision between the 3. If they bring up contract, we had the contract with Homebush stadium not bankwest nor did we decide to pull it down. The bankwest stadium is not working for us as a homeground.

We have a legal firm ( Chairman Lee ) that may be available to action this easily for us. I truly believe that Stefano will be honourable and be with us in 2021.

“Stefano is an exciting young prospect who has been training really well during the pre-season and has earnt this opportunity,” O’Neill said.

Thanks Buckets we know and he will look great in our Jersey next year.

Buckets lost his job over an exciting young prospect (couldn’t resist). Feel free to delete

The 19-year-old has signed a three-year contract that will see him join Wests Tigers from the start of the 2021 season until at least the end of the 2023 season.

Born in Otahuhu, New Zealand, the towering Utoikamanu played his junior football with the Cabramatta Two Blues before progressing through the grades at Parramatta — starring at a junior representative level with New South Wales and Australian Schoolboys.

The 191cm and 115-kg forward will add another dimension to a dynamic Wests Tigers forward pack in 2021 and displays a quality move in the player market by the club.

Head Coach Michael Maguire said he was delighted to have Stefano join the club in 2021.

“Stefano is clearly one of the best young talents in the game and, as such, we’re all extremely excited to have him join Wests Tigers going forward,” Maguire said.

“His commitment to the future of this club is a strong show of intent in what we’re building here, and I have no doubt that he will continue his development in the next 12 months to be an even better player than what he is now.

“We’ve got a number of quality young props here at Wests Tigers with the likes of Alex Twal, Thomas Mikaele and Oliver Clark, and Stefano is certainly another young talent that I have no doubt will play a big role in the future of this great club.”

".....and I have no doubt that he will continue his development in the next 12 months to be an even better player than what he is now."

The above sentence is A backhander at the Eels. Thanks for developing him more for us.

Would have liked him this season but oh well...looks like we may be on the market for another impact prop as our only depth if we go with a 4 forward rotation would be one of packer/Clarke imo and huth so not great

Best part is Madge saying he’ll continue developing this year and be even better than he already is when he finally gets to us in 2021. A nice back hander to Parra. Thanks for the free year of developing him for us.

Just wondering if this is a stick it up your “body part where the sun doesn’t shine” post on the WT website.

I have no doubt this is WTs way of saying suck eggs Parra, we won't be bullied any more.

Wonder if the release now is the club worrying over whether he'll be persuaded to stay and issued this to assert that his contract will not be broken.

He's an enormous lad too. Gee whiz...
