No mention of Eels treatment of Stef’s brother? Does anyone know what that’s all about?

He was training really hard and then he was told he wouldn’t be able to play rugby league again. It’s pretty tough.

“He broke his neck and one of the arteries got cut off, so there’s only one artery that was pumping blood to his brain, and when something happens to that it’s no good.

“Mentally, it was a big shock because he took rugby league for granted as well. It’s tough when somebody tells you you can’t do something you love.

“It’s a big motivation for me. I know he wanted to be here. It’s good for me, to be playing for him. That’s very big for me.”

Apparently family not happy with the way the injury was treated.

Who knows what will happen, but there's definitely a chance he'll stay at the Eels. It's one thing to talk tough but if he turns around and says "i don't want to join you" then it's going to be tough to enforce.

If that happens, we won't have a leg to stand on. We can't force him to come to us, all we could do is demand some sort of compensation from Eels, which they wouldn't pay.

Someone said this earlier and I think they are right, we have to keep good with his family, keep in touch with him, now and throughout the year. Make it so he knows how he will be welcomed. See what we can do for his brother. Do as much of that stuff as we can, then we should be safe in retaining him.

Let’s not crucify him just yet. So far, there’s no reason why he won’t be here.

One of my earliest footy memories was hearing Jim Serdaris wanting out of Wests after they signed him from the Dogs. He was held to it though. How times change.

He's probably only still there because he was contracted and what Parra do within that contract is their problem everyone relax and await the arrival of a first grade football that we do have to blood.

I'm not sure if this comment is made in hope or in expectation but, after Matterson and Moses, WT can't afford to let another player they want to keep walk away from a contract. If they do, no future signing would ever be secure. It's a long while since I did contract law but, if it's a binding contract, my recollection is WT could sue for specific performance i.e make Stefano come to WT. They would have to ignore any claims about player welfare e.g Moses and stick to their guns by insisting Stefano fulfils his contract. They could also have a look at whether Parra have done anything to induce Stefano to breach his contract and take appropriate action against them.
