17 - Stefano Utoikamanu - 7.5

Utoikamanu had one of his best games of the season considering the situation he was put in. He came on the field when the Blues were in trouble, and while it was impossible for the Storm prop to stop the bleeding on his own, he had a tangible effect in attack and defence.

In typical Melbourne fashion, Utoikamanu's best moments were without the ball. pushing up off of his other forwards when they ran the footy, as well as continuing to move his feet in defence. This was the performance Daley would've been looking for after handing the towering forward his jersey.

Well it is true that he had an effect because his aimless loitering in the Qld defence cost us a win when he impeded a player who "may" have been able tackle Cleary but was given an interferance call from the bunker and the try was disallowed.A terrible lazy bludgers performance from a man who went missing during the game.

Yeah I’d say 7.5 is a fair enough assessment…

If you are looking at it from the perspective of how much he helped QLD.

His lazy marker defence gifted QLD a try soon after he cost us one. He made a solid number of tackles with no misses, however he was strolling or flat footed from marker after each of them, he also got owned in attack. 4 out of 10 at best.

Been thinking about this. The talk was that Melbourne exposed Terrell May’s weaknesses in the game we played them once.
Who would be best to know and protect Stefano’s weaknesses?
Melbourne.
Who would be best to exploit those weaknesses in an opposing match?
His Melbourne teammates!

He’s clearly trying to get a hold of Bellamy’s pocket / Ponisi . Or Stefs grub manager . Makes Moses look ethical that bloke .

7.5 for running decoys and "continuing to move his feet in defence". I've seen it all.

NSW starting to get it with the likes of Young, Martin & Barnett....
There's a few others floating about - Burt Stefano isn't one of them.

Problem is,
Blokes like him will never be told they weren't good enough in that environment
- So they'll still think that's where they belong.

Said it through the Pearce reign, What was he supposed to do
- Kicking inside his own 30 most of the game.
Yeah Joey Johns could do it, But I'm closer to dying than being born
- And I've seen 1 Joey Johns
Farrrk with the Moustache he does look like Burt, good of Stefano..

NSW does need to up the Oomph a little. Although I think the guys mainly get it. Crichton, Martin, Young definately put in. Stef can take it, but he is like a slow moving brick.

I dont think what is written is wrong but it doesn't also account the obvious faults in his game that were also there. Add them to the good things he did do and it becomes 4/10.
