How embarrassing. This guy is the NSW captain for christs sake. The ego has taken a severe beating :roll

…..............................................................

A bit of a feud between Paul Gallen and Peter Sterling threatened to break out this week. Just when we were getting set for the next Robbie Farah v Gorden Tallis, the pair buried the hatchet, but not before Sterling 'gate-crashed' Gallen while on live radio.

The whole thing started when Sterlo left Gal out of his NSW Origin side on TV on Wednesday.

It continued with Gallen saying he was “a bit dumbfounded” by the non-selection on Sky Sports Radio on Thursday morning.

“To think that only a month ago I was out of the Australian side and I played well enough to slip my way back in there and got man of the match for the Test,” said Gallen.

“I just don’t know how me not being in that (side) is justified.”

The Cronulla and NSW captain continued pleading his case on Triple M ahead of the radio station’s live coverage of the Rabbitohs-Dragons match from ANZ Stadium on Thursday evening.

“It wasn’t scathing at all, he (Sterling) just said he couldn’t have me in the team because he wanted to have Fifita and Klemmer,” said Gal.

“There’s not a lot to it at all and he’s entitled to his opinion, but I’m entitled to stick up for myself…”

At this point, Sterlo walked into the Triple M commentary booth at Homebush to get his two cents in.

“The one thing I want to say is it’s not personal” the Blues legend said.

“I’m not a selector, he will be picked, but I hope Gal goes out and leads New South Wales to a 3-0 victory and wins the Brad Fittler Medal and proves me to be the worst judge in the world.

“I would love nothing more than that. I’m not a selector,

“The only result out of this is I’ve done my job. I was asked to pick a team, and that’s the team that I’ve picked.

“Gal looks like he’s going into the media side of things, that looks like a natural transition, and he’ll know that you’re gonna give opinions and comments and they’re not going to be popular and they’re not always going to be well-received.

“That’s the gig.”

Wouldn't be in my side either.

Need to look to the future and some of these old guys are past SOO.

Meninga picking him is no criteria - the Oz team picked was pathetic and they played pathetic. I would hope the SOO team plays better than that.

He's never responded well to criticism Gallen. Sterling on the other hand is probably the most respected voice in the game. And he's got a point. Gallen has been solid not brilliant this year and his main justification for inclusion in the origin team appears to be the fact he played the test.

the whole thing was a non event. i listened to it all. sterlo was great. so often these media types back down as soon as they come face to face with the player. he was very measured, didnt back down but didnt disrespect Gal. Gal copped it on the chin and said he could see where Sterlo was coming from.

Sterlo is the most bitter old tard involved with the game.
I hate his guts.

Gal is playing great footy at the moment.

Sterling has the right to that opinion and Gallen has every right to blow that opinion out of the water ON THE FIELD with his performance

I can't believe Sterlo has selected Anasta as one of his sidekicks this year after last year's selection of Willie Mason. His opinion of who should be in a winning team hasn't a lot of credibility left.
