Sheens needs to choose the strongest team possible each week if the Tigers are serious about making the finals. On current form, Fifita and Gibbs should both be in the top 17 each week regardless of whether they have signed with another club.

TOTALLY AGREE

Well we have all seen what contracts and the paper they are written on are worth in the last few days (toilet paper) So these guys can't afford not to perform or the Sharks may find someone else and dump them

Gibbsy is one of my fav Tigers and i hate to see him leave, same goes for any of the other boys, but at the end of the day if it puts us in a better position to win the Premiership then so be it im all for it cause thats the goal we are trying to win the comp not keep the boys/mates club together… right ?

Exactly hybrid.

Nobody hould be dropped except for issue of discipline or performance

no,not like the hodges move.

but if it is a 50/50 decision i go with the youngster.
if you have a player in the lower grades busting their gut while the departing player is just cruising, make the move.
if the departing player is now displaying a negative attitude, play the youngster.

and if a player who is contracted for next year is just cruising, make the move.

No because we are the idiots who are getting rid of 4 players just to sign 1 player.. it isn't even worth it. has anyone seen the New England Patriots in the NFL? the Storm are like that team, they turn average players to superstars, and then when their players go to other clubs they turn out to be nothing but average

do you honestly believe all of this is being done to accomodate Blair? :crazy have you been watching Aiden Toleman this yr? he's been a little better then average i think you'll find.As far as the Pats go,im an Eagles fan and the 1 player i wouldn't trade in their defensive line is Asante Samual, and what team did the Eagles sign him from?

Unless they clearly dog it (like Te'o did) I would not be dropping anyone.

Yes im with you we have to put our best 17 every week.Teo did throw the towel in and sometimes it was so obvious it made me sick.

I think Sheens should always picked the best 17 players available.

If we are no chance during the season of making the top 8 then I agree we should start to blood players like Miller (if Lui is leaving) BMM, Groat, Begovich into the NRL.

The Under 20's coach won't be happy as they have a chance to win the comp. Gun side.

I'm gonna say yes, drop them….
Unless they were told to look around & did, securing a deal elsewhere.
Then it's the clubs own fault and play em as much as possible while they're still around.
If they are wanted & turn their back on the club though, cya later

I lean towards this view. If they were pushed, then they stay in the team if their form warrants it, but if the chose to leave then they need to be in outstanding form to remain in the team.

If players leave for eg if Fifita goes for more $$ should they be dropped ala Hodges thoughts??

Pathetic.
Players and the clubs have a job to go on with at hand. This is footy…not tit for tat.. :unamused:

Totally agree, however it seems as though some of the players are already focused on next year and not the job at hand. I reckon it might shake a few players up a bit to know they could end up in reserves if they continue with current performances?

Perfect example Golden! Look at Randy Moss. They signed him for peanuts cos no one would touch him with a fifty foot pole. He ended up being a pro bowler again then wanted his pay day so they got rid of him. Same as Richard Seymour the year earlier, but ended up signing numerous players (not including the draft picks they got) and actually strengthened the team. Year after year they do it and manage to unearth superstars time and time again. No egos on that team. They don't mortgage the future by tolerating mediocrity (and that hurts me to say being a Falcons fan). I'm not keen on us being held to ransom for one single player who is really only going to compliment our other players. He's not going to score 20 tries a year or single handedly shore up our defence. I just think his price is going to be way too high for what he will bring to the team. Also got a feeling losing Fifita is going to bite us on the bum massively. Maybe not immediately but a few years from now!

A few others on here have said no to dropping them, adding that it's about winning games.

I would argue that if we gave our future players a go now they will be better able to contribute better performances from round one next year which should mean moving forward that we are a better team.

I don't think the guys will be demoted unless they make unhelpful remarks or are refusing to honor a contract.

I'd rather focus on this year than win next year. What happens in 12 months when players leave? Do we focus on 2013 instead? And then in 2013 when guys leave we focus on 2014, etc etc etc? We're still in the hunt this year, so lets try and be 2011 premiers.

Unless the player completely drops their form (Ben Te'o) or parades around in their new clubs gear and tells everyone how happy they are to be joining their new clubs (Craig Wing) keep them in the side.
