Yes Demps "The road" was very confronting but very well constructed and worth the places it takes you and the emotions it envokes.

If you like Cormac McCarthy read his absolute masterpeice 'Blood Meridian' it's extremely confronting but fantastically real. It's a Western but the characters are just so repulsive, violent and unpredictable it's almost like reading a horror story.

They have been trying to make a movie for years but the narrative is just so erratic it's hard to fit into a contemporary structure.

Also if you love historical fiction read anything written by Bernard Cornwell particularly his Arthurian Trilogy the definitive spin on the legend.

For a book with a Balmain and the Tigers feel The story of Danny Dunn by Bryce Courtney was a good read really enjoyed it

That was a really good book. I read it over Christmas. I always love the twist in COurtney's books.

Supposed to be a classic, Its so Dry…

Best book I have read in Years was "Les Miserables" Victory Hugo.

Courtney always has a wicked twist. Read Jessica? THAT one threw me for a 6\. The ending of Danny Dunn had me in tears. Such a sad tale … Having had a couple of great uncles in WW2, and having read Uncle Bob's book (On Paths of Ashes - Edited by my cousin, Robyn Moss), and being set in Balmain, I really got absorbed in to it.

I have to say though, that I believe Courtney's most poignant book is April Fool's Day. It's a sort of biography of his son's life. He was born a heamopheliac, and contracted AIDS. He passed on April Fool's Day. Absolute tear jerker.

Really enjoy all James A Micheners books . Centennial would be my favourite (Yes us oldies might remember the TV series in the 70's) and the other is a brilliant book called The Bridge to Andau . Is a magnificent story about the people of Hungary and their struggles with their attempted overthrow of Communist Russia just before the Melbourne Olympics . Unbelieveable story .

Re-reading "The God Delusion" by Richard Dawkins at the moment. Obviously if you're religious steer clear of this one.

As far as fiction books go, Tom Clancy novels are always a winner, will read Rainbow Six again after I finish Dawkins' book. I'm not a huge fan of fiction TBH.

I recommend "A Brief History of Time" to anyone. Stephen Hawking is a genius and delivers this book in a factual and humourous manner.

Mein Kampf is on the to read list. Everyone I know who have read it have raved about it.
