Suli needs a break

Picked up a lower leg/ankle injury ..looks like the BYE came at the right time…

Well if he is not 100% fit for the Manly game, I think it would be wise to give him a rest so he can finish the season injury-free and at his destructive best

The Tigers have bought well in the backs for next year, and Suli has reason to be looking over his shoulder. He'd be wanting 80 minutes every week to hang onto that starting centre spot.

We've got Suli, Nofoaluma, Watene-Zelezniak, Lolahea, Milne, Thompson, Fonua and potentially Watson and Naiquama trying to squeeze into 5 backline spots. That's plenty of incentive for the young fella to keep pushing hard. He's still Holden Cup eligible next year, and could find himself back there.

He is the best centre we have by a country mile (even with the new recruits) and has been our best back all year. His position is not under threat. I'd be more concerned if I were one of our wingers…MWZ will unlikely play first grade next year and Nofo has been consistently awful all year (I think he's the one that needs to be looking over his shoulder)

I agree with you as things stand, and Suli's developing well, but he needs to stay in grade for that to continue. I don't see that happening playing against kids in Holden Cup or part timers is ISP. I think if you dropped Suli now he'd be off the pace next year.

Nofoaluma…3rd in all runs, 3rd in all run metres, 3rd in offloads, 4th in tackle breaks in the entire NRL ..I'll take that awful ....I reckon he's pretty safe...

If stats mean everything why isn't he starting winger for NSW/Australia?

isn't this kid on over a million a year?

He's (reportedly) on $1.2m over 4 years. I imagine it's probably staggered in terms of cap hit, so probably $250k or so for this year.

I think Suli and Nofo are current players that will definitely be getting a run next year. Suli to me looks like the sort of player we can use as an attacking threat. We used him well last week and he was awesome. Nofo is great as well.

If Noffa isn't named round 1 next year I will walk up to Mike Tyson and tell him he talks funny. No way does he not start.

Anyone watched Fonua in super league lately? He is average, with his biggest skill the ability to get over from 5m out

It's amazing what you learn about your outside backs, when you give them good early ball with room to run .. !! No doubt about it, Suli is a destructive running back, once he starts to motor he's nearly impossible to stop by his opposing centres. Makes yards every time after contact and on the weekend he made a couple of line breaks after first contact. So Brooksie, I hope you saw what happens when you give your outside backs the ball .. !! :astonished:

It was the most room Suli has had to work with since The Souffs game in round one.

It makes a difference when the forwards go forward but especially when your five eight runs straight and makes room for the players outside him. More of this and we could have a new Harry Wells.
