Sunday afternoon footy at Leichhardt Oval snubbed

Good points Alex. As much as I love Leichhardt Oval there is no real scope for redevelopment. It is also in a LGA where it is very difficult to get permission to remove a tree, let alone extend seating for a footy ground. But then if you gained approval and redeveloped the ground you risk it becoming just another footy ground, albeit with god awful parking and trasnport options.
I live in the inner west and would miss games being played at Leichhardt dearly but for the future of the club a well developed Campbelltown Oval and a 4/8 SFS/CO split would be the way to go.

very good point.. that's what i'd be looking to do as well. my opinion might be a little bias though.

although, in order to maintain some level of peace, i dont think this would be the right time in getting rid of LO.. i would wait for some diehard LO generation to fade out a little.

This mentality is what holds the game back. I loved Balmain as much as the next fan, but if it is necessary for WT to move away from there to ensure the survival and financial viability of the club, I will support it. I love watching games at LO, but playing games there simply to appease a section of the fan base to the detriment of the club is simply madness.

I agree with this, Campbelltown has room to grow, and deserves to grow. Campbelltown stadium could be redeveloped into a 30,000 seat fortress which would be great for the Wests Tigers and the area. Whilst I love the atmosphere at Leichhardt, it just doesn't have the room to become a modern spectacle IMO.

I am in full support for a Campbelltown redevelopment

I'm from up north and go along to Brisbane games (Suncorp is named as the best stadium in the NRL) And i love going to games (not even Tigers games!) because of the stadium, it's family-friendly and the seating arrangements. If a non-fan can go along to other clubs' games, then imagine the spectacle Campbelltown could become for fans and others.
 
If the club were to get $20 mill to put into a stadium I would prefer to see an entirely new stadium built around Liverpool.

But that is my preference

I'd say no to the idea of a Carpark… But building a Bus Interchange, better Corporate Facilities and a new Stand would be a good solution to moving to Concord Oval fulltime.

Traditional Heartland for both Clubs!

Rubbish. So just cos Leichardt may no longer be up to scratch, Ctown has to suffer? I don't think so. Thats vindictive

Theres apparently already massive work planned for Parra Rd….wether it happens is another thing but while its in the pippeline nothing else will happen there.....no room anyway for anything extra there, no bus i'change, no car park....its surrounded by a major road, residential and council owned green space....a very very green council

Smeg, I think you'd need another 0 or two to your sum to get anything decent, I doubt 20m would build something like Concord today

Cambo is the logical choice really, its already there, trains, parking

It is a moot point at this stage.

The simple facts remain that while it costs the club more to play at LO then it does at CSS the great majority of memberships are catered around including a Leichhardt option. This may change over time but it is where we stand right now.

My hope from the 2013 draw and allocations help to re-energize the Macarthur base and they flood through the gates of CSS.

The financial reality of where we stand now is that the SFS/SCG is essential moving forward. The Wests Tigers organisation needs to secure it's financial base and draw in as many fans from a wide a net as possible. Because right now and for the immediate (next 15 - 25 years) future there is no chance that the club would survive putting its financial future in the hands of the Macarthur. Demographics, spending trends and corporate support dictate this.

The great majority of suburban ground funding has been from a Federal Govt in the past anyway and as such the press release from the NSW Govt means absolutley squat.

I look forward to great atmosphere and game day experiences at three of the four grounds we will be using next year. From the SCG I expect some nostalgia wrapped in a viewing crapshoot

Fair enough. It wasn't so much aimed at you, just a vibe that sometimes happens on this forum that the inner-west can be written off with ease but the south west is sacred. FTW I sincerely doubt Concord is even a remote possibility. Then again the possibility of us being given $20million is just as unlikely…

Bottom line - we're not in a position to forego any area of support.
