Nick Politis has considered changing the name of the Sydney Roosters to Bondi Roosters.

Which one should they go with?

I dont mind Bondi Roosters, but at the same time I like Eastern Suburbs as well.

There are a lot of other names I like to call em too but im not gonna say on here

Heh, I reckon you could get a very long list of what people call them…

Put me down for Eastern Suburbs. I'm a bit of a traditionalist. Other than that, I like the Bondi Roosters. I reckon Bondi is one of the ugliest beaches in Sydney, and with a population of 9358 (according to Wikipedia), you could pretty much fit their entire fanbase in that one suburb...

Not a fan of the Bondi Roosters.

Hi everyone

Back to basics - Eastern Suburbs.

Unless, of course, Roosters fans only live in Bondi!!

Yeah I voted Eastern Suburbs too. I still call them Souths not the Rabbitohs or if I do call them by their mascot I say Bunnies. So I wouldnt object to calling them Easts.

On the topic of names, is it just me or does everyone get frustrated when you see us called "West Tigers" … it's WEST**S** TIGERS, with an S!

Well, I did mean Eastern Suburbs Roosters.

I don't often see 'West' Tigers written - but to hear it said often sounds like that - takes some concentration to say West"s" Tigers. I just say Tigers - like Dragons, Eels, Broncos, etc. Others use Wests, Souths, Parra, etc. What you get used to, I think.

oh and change that avatar, its really boring..

if theyre gonna refer to the team they should do it properly! and lay off the avatar haha. what's with all your mulitcoloured posts?

I mainly see West Tigers written on tickets to away games. Not often in print media but I do see it a fair bit.

It was funny, in the DT article Politis was quoted as saying "Bondi Roosters is a strong marketing name. Bondi is well known around the world." … You'd think Sydney is just as well known, if not more, worldwide. Then Bryan Fletcher said "Tourists love those Bondi shirts so you could sell Bondi Roosters shirts to the tourists." ... Why target tourists?! IMO go with Eastern Suburbs Roosters or East Sydney Roosters and target that demographic, not overseas tourists.

how about eastern suburbs roosters.

Gotta be Eastern suburbs roosters. One area where af leaves us for dead is teams such as collingwood, carlton, stkilda essendon geelong e.tc e.tc for over 100 years have kept there name and always will it means so much to the history and marketing who wants to buy a jersey if your forever changing names.

The AFL keep the same jersey design too majority of the time. Simple, traditional and have been around for years unlike NRL teams who change them every few seasons. If the Roosters want to improve their image after a horror year, I'd be leaning towards the traditional name (like the Dogs have done by bringing back Canterbury) rather than changing it to a party spot in Sydney.

And yes I know how to change font colour

Who cares what their called ….....they will ALWAYS be Rorters......It's all they know...... whether it's Uncle Nick's deep pockets trying to buy a premiership........ or the plundering of Juniors from the Wests, Penrith and Parra Jnr leagues.....

I don't get frustrated but I find it amusing that supporters don't even know what their team is called. Ofcourse they will then say it's just a typo but you know the ones that write it the same everytime.

The Roosters might aswell just keep their name as the Sydney Roosters or maybe just Roosters because most of the time alot of their players are not Eastern Suburbs juniors anyway.

According to the global warmening/climate change alarmists the sea levels are going to rise 6 meters so Bondi will be under water according to them LOL

changing their name, is not going to do anything to hide the fact, they did not perform as expected last season.
.
maybe they are looking at point of view, new coach, new name for club, new attitude, better results.
.
we will know in sept 2010.
