Taking a home game to the country

Just listening to the radio, how would the members who pay for 12 home games a year think or feel about losing one game or paying for 11 games and the club taking a game out to the sticks in future seasons?

Personally I would be happy if it was reduced but not paying 12 as the chances of getting the game would be next to impossible.

I don't fit your category as i don't have a 12 game membership, however I would support the club taking one of their home games out bush as long as it wasn't one of the leichardt or Campbelltown ones, as to me, and it's only a personal thing, but these are our true home games.

I dont think its the Club's responsibility to take the game back to the bush… Maybe the NRL could nominate 1 game each round and provide suitable compensation to both clubs?

Each club should have a home game every year taken to the bush with the NRL covering costs.

I agree but the fans who pay the memberships cannot be expected to pay. Its hard enough, next to impossible to travel interstate with the current scheduling add to this a Friday night game in woop woop we miss out again.

Have a 11 game membership structure then yes I'll accept it.

They wouldnt charge 12 games if there were only actually 11

Its a good idea….take one from LO one year, then another form CSG the next

Just dont go to QLD.

Hmmm … I'm not convinced .... Sounds good in theory but there are always some issues with sponsors etc

Maybe they can take a State Cup match out there instead ... Oh hang on .. We want to encourage them don't we...
Have to think up something else !!

15 K would show up at Gladstone if you bring an NRL game here

And I will do a lap of the oval at half time with just my Tigers socks on if it happens (protecting your feet is important )

What would a game in the country do for the game ? Nothing because thats not where the problem lies .Anybody can go to any club pub or watch the game at home regardless of where they live .
The NRL has killed off the local groups by snaring all the good prospects at a young age 15 -16 , they move them to the city and most are washed out by 20 and never go back to the country and play again .Years ago the country was a players superanuation when they would go back and captain coach the local side and help bolster the competitions .Country rugby league is dead only because of the greedy NRL.

Don't agree. Inner sydney and south west sydney is a large area to cover already. St George Illawara much the same. These two(four) teams have done enough for league.

But the other clubs should take one game. Just have Tigers and Dragons have away games in the country for those rounds.

Why!!! I demand to watch my TEAM at our home grounds bad luck for the country dudes!

What makes us more worthy of watching live NRL games than country people? I think its a great idea as central western NSW is the heartland of league in this state, next to nothing opposition from Union and AFL is non existent out there, we need to support the areas where a large amount of our players are from

The notion that the country is the retirement village for older footy players is dead and gone. English super league fits that bill now.
I think our country cousins do deserve some footy up close and personal (we all know nothing beats being at the game). As long as the grounds are good enough.

The group 10 competition that I used to play in which spanned lithgow to mudgee had a few ex nrl players running around. Michael Sullivan, Matt Rieck, Fredd Briggs, Bubba Kennedy, Bronx Goodwin. IMO the presence of these players did more damage than good as clubs looked at buying fringe players from Sydney to remain competitive, which reduced the involvement and need of local players.

Having a former NRL player at each country club (NSW and QLD) wouldn't do any harm , and the NRL could wear a portion of the bill .

Would help get the communities involved in their own clubs

Would love to see the NRL engage with the country areas more.

Start the push now and make sure Federal funding is available to upgrade the community assets in regional centres like sporting fields. They can find millions to help the big sporting groups it is time to start funding the community.

There would have to be some regulation otherwise the Warriors would play almost every Sydney game in a regional centre

Five players in an entire comp isnt going to dilute the local participation by all that much, having good players in your team makes one a better player…they bring with them all the latest knowledge on training and game day techniques.
It generate interest and revives passion...
