Tallyn Da Silva #270

Lots of words but not a single point that justifies the decision to let him go right now (rather than at the end of 25) and give up on the current season at the end of June.
They let him go as they want to save the money. It doesn't make sense to keep him for another six months minimum and have him play reserve grade, when they can let him go now, save the money and promote Haywood to NSW Cup.

They have a long-term plan - if they kept him until the end of next year they'd potentially have 3-4 hookers who could play first grade - TDS and Hope can only play hooker, meaning they have less ways to include them if Api's fit.

TDS wanted to stay - as much as the media want to make it out that it's another failure of the club, another player who can't wait to get out, it's not true. The club made a decision for the future and while it make things a litter tougher this year, things would be tougher next year if they held on to him as they make then lose Haywood who's better.

Everyone is saying Haywood’s better but if we let Haywood go and kept TDS they would say the opposite

I heard that there's a benefit to the club in the management of their salary cap, extra $$$ this year and next to better spend across the roster.

Supposedly he was on $250k this season increasing to $400-500k next … so letting him go now saves about a $100k… so not much … I would have chosen to keep him to see out the season given desperate times

Next year is a different story … but they could have still chosen to let him go at the end of the year

And the sad reality is our club probably needs to make those sorts of decisions that equate to 100K whereas our competition don’t. That’s the main disadvantage we have. It’s been obvious for years and Richo has stated it many times, we need to improve the bottom line.

I don’t buy it mate … they have more money than they can spend left on the cap …a $100k is changing nothing there

The problem is spending money outside the cap …

There’s so many examples I won’t list them all but when you’re moving stadiums for a few thousand extra corporates, sacking barbers and employing volunteers for game day, you’re on struggle street. Last CEO tried to smother it, Richo has been upfront with us.

That’s got nothing to do with saving money for Da Silva … that money is given to them by the NRL to spend on players … and can’t be used to pay the other bills

I'm finding alot of fans cant grasp how poorly run the tigers were before Richo came on board and the enormity of the problem he's trying to fix.
