Taylor

@OzLuke I reckon Garner was sent back to reggies to work on a couple of areas of his game. The guy has great tackling technique when he lines up the opposition, but he was doing a fair bit of arm grabbing earlier in the season.
I really rate the kid and hope he keeps on improving.

The Tigers need ET for his defence. Agree that he doesn't make a lot of ground in attack, but that is not his specialty. Glad to see others can see his value. We now need to add other more attacking players to the pack to balance things. Good on you ET

ET gives his all.
But would he walk into any of the so-called better sides.
That's the question about so many of our current squad - they try but is that enough?

He's copped heaps on here which I've never really thought was warranted. He's like a modern day Kevin "The Viking" Hardwick. A toiler.

That is true but just like Kevin he is a lightweight and just off the pace for a starting player.I was a massive fan of Hardwicke but he knew his limitations.he would always be the first bloke on as a substitution

Have to say if Lawrence is to hang up boots at end of season I'd be looking to extend Taylor. His defensive ability always remains useful depending on opposition. At his age you can't really make new offensive skills for him but he sure can tackle. A useful member of a 30 player roster.

Taylor is hitting the line a lot harder in attack now, I have no issues with him having a bench spot at least for the rest of this season.

@Moh The coach has obviously asked him to lift his game and he has .. he is responding and playing well , as said you need 30 players and he fits that bill perfectly ...has another season all good if he moves on all good with that !

Also the modern game is different for these smaller "warriors". I still remember when some clubs would employ sweepers between the front line and fullback, like old Turvey Mortimer running this way and that to cover potential line breaks. But those days they had leather footies that were difficult to (a) pass far and (b) kick far, so you weren't as exposed on the edges like you are today.

Ultimately I like ET and I respect his heart and his effort, but he is replaceable if we can find a bigger body with similar tackle effectiveness. Arguably, a guy like Chee-Kam or Gardner might not tackle as effectively or energetically as ET, but if they can get close enough, they have much much more to offer in attack and as a big body.

I would also argue that if your go-forward is consistently good, which ours is not, then you can easily afford to play a guy like ET to do a lot of defensive work. Roosters have a similar sort of thing going with Victor Radley - they preferentially do not play him hooker, but he can cover it if necessary, and he spends a lot of his time shoring up the middle. In attack, Radley is younger and faster than ET, but he's still a fair lightweight.

Jumped on to the thread excited that he has signed with another club and leaving.

One dimensional player. Can tackle and that’s about it.

Has been one of our better players last couple of years and that in itself is the problem.

Had his day, we can do better

Well we haven’t signed anyone, so maybe we can’t

This is most likely. we are resigned to some roster positions.

Hands are tied.

So we can’t do better then

Enough with the silly buggers mate.

He's another who at least always tries, I'm happy enough keeping him for his final year 2020 but sure if he gets a better offer I would say thanks for your service and all the best
