Te Maire Martin v Moses

Moses is ahead of Martin IMO , though I think Martin also looks a First grader.
I disagree with others and feel he could be a Centre, I think he has a decent frame and will fill out into a good size and think his running game is his best feature.
Could be a Jamie Lyon style centre

Serious question to the Moses fans.

Blake Austin was outstanding today against some quality opposition, when will we see Moses be able to deliver a similar type of performance?

Don't you know, we're all about giving these guys time, its always at a later date that we'll see the best of them. It never enters people's minds that these guys that need time may just not be up to it at this level.

Reread what I wrote (as the OP )

I asked whether people thought that Te Maire Martin and Moses at the same stage of their careers (meaning Moses still at NYC) who was better

I'm saying that Martin is in a better place

Moses was all potential and very silky but Martin to me has great body posture when he runs and some of his touches are freakish. Once he grows into his body he is going to be a player, very serious player.

Happy, it's been this clubs mantra for nearly 10 yrs that it's always a yr or two away before the side gels, but that yr or two never comes. Surely people are justified in taking everything with a grain of salt

My only worry with Moses is, most of the school boy super stars who went on to be also super stars at NRL level, looked the part from day one. players that come to mind,Johns,Stirling,Alexander,Brasher,Fittler. All these players from day one looked the goods, they did not need a two year wait see scenario. I think he will make the grade but I remember Michale Withers who was the schoolboy whiz kid who was at Balmain who took about five years to make the grade as a standard NRL player and really did not come good to he moved to the ESL.Like race horses a lot of champion two year olds amount to very little further down the track. Fingers crossed on Moses he will bloom into a champion but he is no certainty at this stage of his career

I like both players I don't think there is a lot between them but I think matin makes things happen .moses would be playing more to a structure and this is what happens in the nrl you do what the coach wants or you are dropped . just hope we can fit both players in the top side

Well in a couple of years Martin will be much bigger than Dylan Walker is. And he's not a bad centre…Size means F^&% all.

Think this is Martin's last year in NYC, and at the very least he's off contract this season. Kid will be one of the top 5 players in the game in 5 years time. But where?

a lot of the players youve named were from an bygone era, the game is so much more different and profession these days.

if you look at some of the modern day halves most weren't even in first grade at 20 years old. Cronk, DCE, Hodko, A Reynolds and even Thurston played off the bench till he was around 20 or 21

And to add to what Phyr3 said, Moses looked like a first grader last year- not just that game against the dogs but overall, he seemed to be really good at fullback.

All those suggesting Martin in the centres, would you honestly think that'd be a good idea having him defend outside Moses/Brooks with our defensive frailties?
Moses has a better build for centre, but neither should play there.
Play Martin off the bench for a year or two and see if he's up to it.

Some of you guys are harsh… Moses was brought on well before he should have been. He's played a handful of NRL games last season at fullback and a handful of games this year at 5/8\. He's been targeted heavily most weeks, tackling monsters and trying to fit into JT's new structure - all in all, I think he's done damn well, considering the end of the pool he's been thrown into. In the context of Moses' career (assuming he plays 10 years or more) what we have seen so far is nothing, and I am sure there are plenty of highlights yet to come.

As for Martin, I think we're jumping the gun here - he's equally as un-ready for NRL as Moses was. He needs time in NSW Cup to play against the big guys and to get his body ready for the top grade. Even though I think Moses has performed well, why do we need to rush Martin in the same way??

We don't need to rush him. We need to re-sign him.

For him to re-sign he would want some plan in place for his development. So what's the plan we can offer?

I'd be happy with a one year extension at this point as we wait and see how everyone develops and where the pieces to the jigsaw lie. Of course a longer contract would be great too.

I love Moses, his courage, determination and how hard he tries alone makes you want him in your team.

He has talent, he will be great, needs time just like every other player.

Why is it that because someone perhaps disagrees with your opinion they are classed as 'Moses fans'? Did you not see him play against the Dogs last season and get man of the match? They didn't have a bad side, they made the GF after all. Moses needs time to develop, same as what Martinwould if he was thrown into 1st grade before his time. How many games has Moses played….16 or so if that? And people expect him to be winning the Golden Boot FFS. My biggest concern with Moses is his lack of a quality kicking game, our kicking game is pretty much the worst in the NRL.

If we think he's any good, play him in nsw cup and see how he goes with the physicality.

Very few players make a smooth transition from the 20's comp straight to first grade.

Moses was classes above nsw cup when he played giving potter no option except to play him when the imposter (anasta) got hurt. I'm reality he shud of played first grade much earlier, except that wud hav meant we had two inexperienced playmakers. In hindsight Moses shud of played earlier once he proved himself at nsw cup level.
