I don't expect many responses to this topic, because I'm not sure how many posters watch or follow Holden Cup games, but I saw the Tigers Under 20s' demolition of Canberra on Saturday and I was mightily impressed with Te Maire Martin. Besides scoring three tries, he set up the play beautifully by taking on the line and putting the defense in two minds while holding the ball out in front. In scoring his treble, he displayed speed, footwork, strength and sound support play. His combination with the Tigers' edge running second rower was excellent and went a long way to setting up the win. I didn't notice him in defense but the bottom line is that he looks a player of enormous potential and, perhaps, could be groomed as a centre, as Moses looks like the long term five eighth. Anyone agree?
 
Lamar Liolevave is the backrower.

Te Maire Martin was awesome in the Canberra game, but from memory looked a bit more subdued in the Warriors and Knights games which were televised.
That said people grow into the season as it unfolds and Te Maire certainly has the skills in the attack. If he can tackle then perhaps he could be turned into a center with potential to play 5/8 for Origin/Injuries.

Interested to see how it unfolds.
 
Ha, well done Demonborger, couldn't recall the back rower who was also outstanding! I was at Energy Australia for the Newcastle game and thought Martin was excellent in first half. Didn't see the Warriors match but I agree with your thoughts about the future. It will be interesting.
 
Liolevave is a gun! And you're right, Te Maire was outstanding in that game in the weekend. Held the ball perfectly, took the line in well.

Could go ok at centre since it's his running game that's strongest, but didn't see much of his defence either?

Not to forget Marion Seve who is out injured. He is an Aus Schoolboys centre from Keebra Park.

Liolevave is the most exciting prospect for me, solid build, good leg speed and nice footwork at the line. Reckon this kid could kick on and be anything.

Yep agree with this post. Love how much Marin runs the ball. Liolevave is awesome. How long until you think he makes first grade ? we are light on second row.

He had a slow start to the season as he had massive wraps on him, but he's found his groove now and looks a likely prospect in FG in a year or two.
 
martin looks outstanding liolevave looks to me as good a forward prospect that the club has had for a long time the way he gets the ball away reminds me of a young Arthur beetson . with the talent a head of martin we will be flatout to hold him. lioevaves brother plays for Canterbury and you can bet the money they will offer him again we will be lucky to hold him also. by gee I hope I am wrong the under 20 side will go very close best of luck to all of them great side and a wrap to the coach good job
 
Liolevave is dead set in the Josh Papalli mould, reminds me so much of him. Can hit like a freight train and runs great lines around the edges. Huge upper body strength for his age to break players away and has a good offload. Massive potential.

I do remember the Doggies trying to get him though because his brothers are there but he stayed with us in the end. Hopefully we can sign him up.

On Martin, another good player with the Benji-type skills. When he takes control he's on, but he can go missing. He has a smaller frame though so not real sure about his defence. He was pretty lethal in attack while he was at Keebra though.

Marion Seve is by far the best player to come through the system from Keebra that I have seen in a long time. Has Israel Folau written all over him.

I just wish we could sign the young prop from the Warriors U20's though, name escapes me, but the kid is a dead set weapon.

There are big wraps on Martin.

Very talented side. Seve, Martin, Liolevave, Cherrington and Lodge look certain to play plenty of first grade.

Add to them Ravkin (who scored a very smart try on Sat), Woods, Heleta, Farrell, Sattherthwaite, Graham who are also thereabouts as well.

Cant recall a NYC side filled with so many genuine potential first graders.

It's going to be hard to fit them all in the first grade squad we have for the next 2-3 years as well as re- signing them all

Remember a few of them may not make it due to injuries etc. Look at Andrew Vela - massive potential - now playing Ron Massey Cup after repeated injuries.

Geez we're blessed with juniors. We must have the best nursery in the comp. at the start of the season I thought our NYC might have been lacking a bit of talent, compared to other years. But once again, those that are running the show have unearthed 5-6 players that have the potential to be first graders.

you are 100%spot on they just cant make the step up
