Team V Titans

ps - where is everyone getting 16 points from?

If the titans beat us by 9, they finish on exactly the same F/A as we do. (we have them covered by 18 atm)

I think a 9 point loss would put us into 3rd.

I believe we'd have a worse percentage but no doubt there are better mathematicians who can make those calculations.

Is an 8 point loss the maximum we can afford?

9 point loss it's level F/A, anything less we're 2nd, anything more we'll be 3rd/4th.

If it is 9 though, I can only think of 2 scenarios:

1\. We get second on more points scored
2\. They get in front on a better head to head (Both win 1, but they have a better F/A in our matches)

Assuming the worst that no one is fit and not returning

1\. Brown
2\. Tuqiri
3\. Daniela
4\. Ayshford
5\. Ryan

6\. Marshall
7\. Lui

8\. Galloway
9\. Farah
10\. Payten
11\. Dwyer
12\. Flanagan
13\. Heighington

14\. A. Fifita
15\. Fitzhenry
16\. D. Fifita
17\. B. Murdoch Masila

Murdoch missed Sunday's game with an ankle injury and needs a shoulder reconstruction as well. He won't get a go this year.

Would be great if the Dogs can knock of Penrith tomorrow night, it would mean if we can keep within approx. 16 pts of the Titans we get second. It would also afford us the luxury of resting a few guys.

I think you will find we have a 18 point buffer now, that means if we lose we can only lose by a max of nine points, because with for against points every point they win by has a two point swing–ie they get one point and we lose a point. Anyway lets hope we win and win well and rap up 2nd position

it works on overall percentage so at the moment we are on 107.7% and titans 103.9%

Thanks Bazz - as I suspected my maths was a bit wonky. It'd be interesting if are down by 10 close to fulltime - do you take a field goal or penalty?

The centre position will be interesting.

Ayshford and Daniellla are both right centres. Neither is all that comfortable on the left especially defensively. Brown is.

1\. Meaney
2\. Tuqiri
3\. Brown
4\. Ayshford
5\. Ryan

6.Marshall
7.Lui

8.Payten
9.Farah ©
10.Galloway
11.Dwyer
12.Flanagan
13.Heighington

14.Fifita
15.Gower
16.Schirnack
17.Daniella

Assuming Fulton is also out and having a back on the bench because it will happen

I think that is nearly the best side that can be picked at the moment with our injuries.

Agreed.
And with tonight's result, we really must win to seal 2nd place. The Panthers play the Sharks at Penrith so really should win. A narrow loss (9 points or less) would see us finish third, and a bigger loss 4th.
Everything is against us this week - short turnaround, and lots of injuries. The only thing I can see going for us is everyone will right us and tip the Titans. Hope we can somehow pull together and manufacture a win. It can be as ugly as all hell as far as i'm concerned.

I'm just happy that Wests can't fall out of the Top 4\. Be it 2nd, 3rd or 4th, a Home Final is imperative and has been achieved. The Tigers can still have the opportunity to have the luxury of a week off if they are one of the top 2 highest ranking winners. It all depends on other results going in the club's favour. At present, the prospect of a week of looks and sounds great due to the mini injury crisis that has struck Wests. However, momentum is a wonderful thing and a week off isn't always beneficial. I guess there's two views and perspectives on both side's of this equation.

With injuries affecting the side's healthiest Top 17, my line up would be as follows;

1). Brown
2).Tuqiri
3). Ayshford
4). Daniela
5). Ryan
6). Marshall
7). Lui
8). Payten
9). Farah
10). Galloway
11). Dwyer
12). Flanagan
13). Heighnington
Interchange:
14). Fifita
15). Moors
16). Al Schirnack
17). Akeripa

If we come third there's always the chance of saints lossing to Canberra, or Penrith lossing to Manly / warriors.

Ironically if we come 4th and lose that's the last thing we want.

You can go crazy thinking about it, best to leave it to the footy Gods, it worked in 2005.

We sure have alot of injuries now. If Lawrence, Skandalis, McKinnon, Fulton, Gibbs, Ellis, Moors, Moltzen, Tuiaki are out:

1\. Rhys Pritchard
2\. Lote Tuqiri
3\. Blake Ayshford
4\. Geoff Daniela
5\. Beau Ryan
6\. Benji Marshall (vc)
7\. Robert Lui
8\. Todd Payten
9\. Robbie Farah ©
10\. Keith Galloway
11\. Mark Flanagan
12\. Simon Dwyer
13\. Chris Heighington

14\. Willie Mataka
15\. Josh Davis
16\. Andrew Fifita
17\. David Gower

I will amend my team to this one given Fulton and Gibbs are no chance of playing.

1\. Brown
2\. Tuqiri
3\. Ayshford
4\. Daniela
5\. Ryan
6\. Marshall
7\. Lui
8\. Galloway
9\. Farah
10\. Payten
11\. Dwyer
12\. Flanagan
13\. Heighington

14\. A Fifita
15\. Al Schirnack
16\. Josh Davis
17\. Rhys Pritchard

i reckon murdoch-tika-masala from the under 20' might get a call up if he is fit.

No chance. He needs a shoulder reconstruction as it is and is getting over an ankle injury. He won't be risked in this game.

I like your team Willow, but I haven't seen Josh Davis play too much footy yet!
