Has anyone seen Lanyon play? Any strengths weaknesses and is he a better option than Hope?

Lanyon shared hooking duties with Haywood in Flegg last year, alternating between 9 and 13. I reckon his skillet set is more suited to lock - especially his link play - but he's a more than capable hooker. The biggest challenge for Lanyon will be adjusting to the physicality of the NRL, especially trying to hold the middle of our pitiful defensive line. While his transition to NSW Cup has been most impressive, the NRL is another level yet.

I think Latu’s best position in number 6. His best junior and lower grade form seems to be in this position (and also predominantly on the left).

From what I have seen a long kicking game is not a main strength yet.

I believe Latu is biding his time to replace Luai on the left, Doueihi stays on the right.

Yeah I gotta say, I don't understand this experiment. I also don't understand why TDS was released early when we didn't have a back-up hooker planned. Latu is being used as Mr. Fix It but he isn't fixing anything. He is struggling playing out of position.

By all accounts, he trained the off-season at 13. How many times has he played there?

He is a half, play him at half.

I would be more confident blooding Lanyon or Haywood if Twal was in the middle. If someone did an analysis of missed tackles when he is on the field vs when he is off I think it would be a real eye opener. Not just this year, he has always made a massive difference to our middle defense.

Hope at 9 😣 😤 Been tried and it just doesn’t work, surely there is someone else, anyone! It’s such an important position to give to a reserve grader.

Our depth at hooker is horrendous. We need a solid first grader to bridge the gap between the young lads coming through. I'd have jumped at Tyson Smoothey for 18 months.

Hope has consistenly shown he ain't it. I'm glad Benji is starting Latu ahead of him at least.
