Teo has been charged by the match review committee. 3 weeks if he pleads guilty and 4 weeks if he contests the charge and he loses.

Hope this means that the onfield and video referees will be dropped for not being man enough to send him off.

So what is our compensation for losing a young front rower for a week or two, not to mention one less interchange for that game? NOTHING

Ever since I played footy as a kid, it was drummed into me that if you did something silly and get sent off, you're letting your mates down because it's a team sport. This was the very essence of our team sport.

That thinking has gone out the window and it proves there is no penalty for foul play.

And for those fans who don't want to watch a game of 13 against 12, there is a solution. DON'T GET SENT OFF!

The referal system is just an easy out for the refs. Not only is it unfair to the team who could possibly loose a player for the remainder of the match but it seems to negate the send off. You deadset have to shoot someone to be sent off these days. Something needs to be done.

Not doubting you but when it comes to this kind of stuff it would be better with a source attatched

Brilliant.

Thanks mate. LU admin get media releases so that works just fine

curious to see if he contest it.

would not be suprised to see a rule change on shoulder charges soon.

Great news to see that he'll be gone for a few weeks. Suck it Ben.

What would the outcry have been from WT fans if in the 2010 semi, Simon Dwyer had been penalized and sent off for what is often labelled the "tackle of the decade" on JWH?

Teo wasn't aiming for Groats head, nor was Frank Pritchard a few weeks back, nor Dwyer in 2010 for that matter.

Send offs are intended for deliberate foul play. How can something be deemed deliberate If the refs have to watch a super slow-mo replay to decided where contact was made?

Ten minutes in the bin, a free interchange and the tackler put on report is sufficient IMO.

If anyone thinks that is a 3-4 week suspension they are kidding themselves.

Personally I think it was a good hit.

But it is Te'o, so suck crap to the dog.

He is pleading not guilty, not trying to downgrade but pleading not guilty

obviously the Match Review Committee are trying to bring about their own changes to the game this year…

Pritchard's and Teo's tackles are not worthy of any Suspension, either was Robbies tackle.

I hope they contest the charge and win to set these nuffies straight... Rugby League is a contact sport!!!

I can see your point of view.

However with all of the studies in concussion over the last few years and their long term effect the NRL was always going to come down on shoulder contact with the head.

Different circumstances in terms of tackles but if Adam Ritsons situation happened in this day and age with the knowledge that is now in place and there was zero or minimal penalty than someone in Ritsons position would be in a position to bankrupt the administration or at least put it in a position where it was uninsureable and therefore not a viable concern.

This isn't the 80's and 90's anymore

I have to admit when i first saw it thought it was a good hit , after seeing replays i still thought it was a good hit but seeing groat was concussed it was obviosly high

The difference in grading comes down to difference of contribution in way of player falling and the motion of the tackle. Pritchards movement is level, Teo's movement is up and towards the head. Not calling it deliberate but in terms of grading a reckless action the movement pattern would be a factor.

Andrew Voss does raise an interesting point though about what if this happened in Origin. By the slap on the wrist for LOD a year or so ago I doubt it would be charged in Origin. That is the inconsistency I have issue with

Was Grade 2 at best.

Shouldn't have gone for any more than 1-2 weeks.

But as everyone else has said, it's Te'o so they could give him ten weeks for all I care.
