Thankyou Tim Sheens

I want to give credit where it is due…

Tim you came to tigers in very dark days of the Lamb (debarcle) Era.
3 years later i'm celebrating after watching my team win the comp and having the best night of my life.

Tim I also think you have built a strong club (forget this recent crap), I think it was just a case of the club/players outgrowing the need for you to be an overseeing influence.

Also thanks for seeing (eventually) the writing on the wall and walking away with head high, because:
1) you deserve to go out with dignity, and;
2) this shows the love you have for the club (he had all legal right to take all that was owed to him & he didn't).

I wish you well for the future.

I think Sheensy is a great four year coach. So if you ever read this Sheensy, stick around at a club for four years then move on ala Bennett.

Tiger_Al,

Great thread.

Sheens brought respect back to the Tigers after some very dark days. He built a good culture around young, willing kids and got rid of anyone who was deemed to be a bad influence. Sheen was, in many ways, a victim of his early success. He built a premiership team by 2005 and his failure to replicate that despite the loss of senior players meant that fickle fans brought the knives out.

The 2005 grand final run, with my marriage and birth of my children, is one of the special periods in my life and for that I am eternally grateful to Tim.

Tim had his flaws and I am of the view that change is the best move. However, I will never engage in the cowardly attacks of some against a man who has only tried his best to make the Tigers a success. Whether or not you agree with his methods, no one can doubt that Sheens has always done what he thought was best for this club.

Sheens biggest flaw was loyalty to his players. Whilst that has been frustrating at times, it aint a bad character flaw.

Am glad someone started this thread. Excellent posts Tiger Al and Southern. When I think of WT before Tim Sheens… It wasn't a job many coaches wanted back then (Bellamy, Millward). Nowadays we have problems of renewal, but feel in much better shape than 03\. Good luck Tim.

Great post Tiger Al. Tim deserves all gratitude for what he has done for this club. Never thought I'd see the day when he left. Best of wishes for your future Tim.

Great post
Thanks Tim Sheens for helping us get the club in order when it was on disarray and obviously for a premiership I NEVER thought I would see live in my life.
All the best for your future.

I was born the year after the Tigers premiership in 1969 (hmmmm mum, I wonder….), hence I never saw a Tigers success and never thought I would, especially during the Lamb era. Then came Sheens and sorted out this debacle of a club and won us a premiership, so I will be forever grateful for this, thank you Tim.

I’m glad he hasn’t been sacked and I hope he is allowed to resign with dignity, but it is time for him to move on and I wish him the best of luck.

Good thread indeed. I've been waiting for this too but due to the fact there's no official departure, i've waited. Honestly though, as much as i'm pleased for the potential Head Coach change, it's bitter sweet. Sheens has done SO much for this club and 95% of it invaluable. I will be sorry to see him go because his legacy here is enormous. If i saw him on the street my words would be "Thank you Tim! Don't ever underestimate you contribution to this club"

It's sad that his time here will end on these terms. He deserved better. But fairytales in sport are rare. That's what makes them special.

His reign definitely strengthened the club. And again, this last stint was probably the worst part of it. He handled it pretty well by acting on what the club, players and fans wanted.
Great Reign Sheensy,
You should do well with your next club.

Thanks for all that you have done for this club, we all wish you the best for the future you will always have a place in this club history
Thank you

Good thread. Even though I have been vocal in my criticism of Sheens for a number of years, nobody can deny what he has done for the club. He took the job on when we were a basket case and nobody wanted a bar of us.

I'll be forever grateful for the work he's done and what we achieved in 2005\. That was the first year my club had ever made the finals since I had been following Balmain from the early 90s.

Nothing lasts forever though and IMO its pretty clear we need to move in a different direction. Thanks Tim and good luck in the future.
